This. guy. kills. me. For the pag-ibig of Alchemy, his back story is just so... AGHH. It's also his back story PLUS the fact that he smiles all the time despite it because he hates people being sad. Fai D. Flourite from Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicles, sa pamamagitan ng the way.

Alright so, 1: SPOILERS! Duh.

2: Fai and his twin brother were born as "cursed children." The town they lived in hated them both and locked them away in a nagyelo tower. A spirit (I think) came to free them, but could only save one. Despite Fai's insistence that his brother should live, Fai's twin sacrificed himself to save his brother. Fai took on his brother's name and abandoned his old one, and became the adoptive son of King Asura. Fai was always taught that his powers must be suppressed at all costs, otherwise he would hurt someone. As he got older, Fai discovered that many people were being killed sa pamamagitan ng an unknown manic. He went to learn who it was, and eventually discovered that it was Asura. Asura told Fai not to tell anyone and that he had reasons for doing it. Fai eventually left his tahanan and always feared going back, instead going to the Time-Space Witch, Yuuko, for help.

3: I may not have all my facts right. It has been unbelievably long since I've read T:RC, so there are most likely things I've forgot or mis-remembered.

Witnessing the whole Uchiha massacre...then for him to find out the truth of the past later on, finding out he had lived a lie and that his brother truly loved him all along.... that's madami than enough to screw up someone's mind.

Gintoki from Gintama

~Was orphaned at a young age during the joui war. He wandered through battlefields, coming across mountains of corpses. Locals called him a corpse-eating demon and was scared of him but in truth he was just a kid salvaging what he can from the corpses to survive. He was took in sa pamamagitan ng Yoshida Shoyo who became Gintoki's Teacher, tahanan and practically his father figure then was later taken away sa pamamagitan ng naraku agents and was to be beheaded during the kansei purge.

A few years later(I think) Gintoki along with the other orphans Shoyo took in took up arms and fought in the Joui war with one mission, to save their teacher. They fought many battles and Nawawala many of their comrades then when the Bakufu found out about their mission, Shoyo was beheaded and his head was shown to them. At the moment something inside Gintoki just died... They fought on in the war with madami rage and anger than before but I guess this is also the time when Gintoki realized they were fighting a war they can't win. Friends, the very people he promised to protect dying one sa pamamagitan ng one for pointless reasons.

Sick and tired of seeing mga kaibigan die and realizing he can't keep his promise he ran away and abandoned his responsibilities .... Branded himself as a coward and swore to himself to never carry the burden of someone else's life on his shoulder... But still he seeks redemption. Butting in where he isn't wanted and pitting his own body just to protect the things that were important for other people, trying to atone for something. Meanwhile, he kept nothing for himself, didn't get close to anyone, he was always alone. Afraid of enduring the pain of loss again or maybe he just didn't want others to experience what he had or perhaps his just trying to punish himself all that is certain is that he was a very sad man....

Honestly, I don't remember hardly anything about Juvia's backstory. But I'm pretty sure it was sad. *Sniff*, brings a tear to my eye just trying to remember. Won't Gray save her from her past???

Poor Killua :( While probably not the MOST tragic backstory I've seen, Kil had it pretty rough as the heir to the Zodlyck Clan of Assassins.
