IN THE decade since Avril Lavigne sang about her Sk8ter Boi, the Canadian punk pop bituin has married, divorced and written a new record about it.
Goodbye Lullaby may look at heartbreak from a madami adult perspective but the 26-year-old songwriter appears to be the Peter Pan of pop music.
She still puts fluoro kulay-rosas and dayap dye through her hair, adorns herself in safety pins -- including the new tattoo on the back of her neck -- and prefers a trip to the zoo and a spot of surfing in Manly to bar-hopping around Sydney on her brief chatfest visit.
"Hell yeah, I got up on that board," the avid skateboarder sinabi yesterday. "I didn't wipe out once. And now I can say I have surfed in Australia."
Songs including Goodbye and Everybody Hurts are undoubtedly about her split with husband Deryk Whibley, frontman of Canadian punk band Sum 41.
While she acknowledges songs are autobiographical, she prefers the music speaks to her fans instead of going into the details of her split with Whibley.
She now dates Kim Kardashian's stepbrother Brody Jenner.
"Sometimes you have to say goodbye; it can be a sad thing but not a bad thing," she said. Sadness is cured sa pamamagitan ng consuming an entire packet of Tim Tams as Lavigne discovered after her surfing trip.
