He tells you that he needs you, that he's sorry for all the pain he's caused you over the years.

"Why now Lucas?" You have to know why he would choose today of all days to confess that he still loves you. "Why did you have to wait until today?"

"I know the timing sucks Brooke," He lets out a mapait little laugh. "It always does with us doesn't it?"

You can't think of a proper response so you just nod your head slightly. It's true, timing has never been a specialty of your relationship with him.

"I had to make sure you would know that this has nothing to do with Peyton. I'm not in pag-ibig with her anymore, I haven't been for a long time, since before we even divorced to be honest, but I knew you would never accept that. You would have insisted that i was just hurting or in denial, whatever reasons you've been giving yourself for the past seven years." He gives you a knowing look, one that says 'Don't even try to act like you wouldn't have done that.' and you can't. "I know you Brooke Davis, and I know that this was something I could never rush."

"It's too late Lucas!" You try to fight back the tears that are welling up. "It's just too late..."

You're eyeballing the door now, but he's too quick for that. Before you can even think about it, he's standing in front of your only possible exit.

"It's never too late! I pag-ibig YOU BROOKE, I pag-ibig you so much it hurts sometimes. I know I'm an idiot, I know I've screwed things up too many times to count, and I probably don't deserve another chance, but I'm begging you Brooke, please give me one madami chance. This time I promise you, I'll never let you go again."

He's clutching your right hand, his eyes pleading with you to just say yes, but you can't...

"I'm sorry Lucas," You slowly extend your left hand, shaking the whole way through. "Julian proposed last night." You hear him suck in a sharp breath and it cuts like a knife. "I sinabi yes."

He slowly lets your hand drop from his, stepping away from the door as well.

"I'm gonna go now." You give him one last small halik on the cheek. "I'll understand if we don't see each other for a while."

You've made it almost all the way out the door when you hear the words that will haunt you for a long time coming.

"I never truly believed we could be over..."

You almost turn around and run straight in to his arms, but you don't. No matter how much it hurts to admit, sometimes it's just too late.
