Part I Elegy
Six months after Killer's death, my mga kaibigan and I decided to start working on our susunod album. For the first track, we decided to do a cover of "Yesterday" sa pamamagitan ng the Beatles. After recording the song, I said, "Guys, we can't just do cover songs. We'll never make it." We had to adjust to the fact we had a new member, our friend, Ian, on rhythm guitar. Luckily, we knew each other. We actually go back to high school. We weren't close, then, but that's another story. Ian asked, "Do you mind if I look in your notebook, Anthony?" I said, "I don't mind." He came across a song titled "Elegy." He asked, "What's the meaning behind this song." I replied, "That's how I dealt with Killer's death. An elegy is defined as a poem mourning the dead." Ian said, "I think this should be on our album." I was a little hesitant. I then said, "All right, then." Other songs we included were "Ups and Downs," "Standing in the Rain," "Hurricane," "Read Between the Lines," and "Why Are You Laughing?" "Elegy" became the pamagat track.
Part II The First Gig
Not long after Elegy's release, we were asked to perform at a local bar. Elegy received madami attention than Rock and Roll. Our first kalesa was successful. After the show, a man in his late 20's came up to us. He said, "That was a great show. Have you ever considered performing on a roof?" I said, "No." Simon jokingly said, "Who do you think we are, the Beatles?" We all laughed. The man said, "I'm Jacob." I said, "I'm Anthony, lead vocalist and lead guitar." Ian said, "I'm Ian, rhythm gitara and backing vocals." Simon said, "I'm Simon, bass gitara and backing vocals." Charles said, "And I'm Charles, drums and occasionally vocals." He had us all sign his copy of Elegy, and we all went our separate ways.
