Gavin Creates Team Unity
It was the first araw of middle school. Bonnie and I started the sixth grade. In our first class, which was Grammar, our teacher, Mr. Johnston, introduced himself, and gave us the lovely paperwork for our parents/guardians to sign. He then introduced a new student. He said, "This is Gavin. He is a foreign transfer student from England." Later that day, at our lockers, I noticed that Jimmy Steele and his gang were making fun of Gavin's accent. Stripe, a member of his gang said, "Speak English." Gavin replied, in his English accent, "I do speak English. I just have a different dialect." Ross, another member of Steele's gang asked, "What's British for 'your mom?'" I said, "All right! That is enough!" Steele said, "John, stay out of this." I asked, "Can't you see the poor dude's scared enough already?" Ross said, "That's because he's a baby." I said, "No, it's because he is in a new school with new people and new surroundings." Steele said, "We can't help it that he talks funny." I said, "Steele, he doesn't talk funny. He talks different. Now, if I see this again, I'll ulat the principal on you." Steele punched me in the gut, knocking me to the ground. He laughed and walked away. Benny, the shy member, looked at us and followed the rest of the gang. I got up. As I walked away, Gavin asked, "Are you all right, John?" I replied, "Yeah." After a moment of silence, he said, "Thanks for taking up for me." I said, "No problem, Gavin." He asked, "Would you happen to be a Beatles tagahanga sa pamamagitan ng any chance?" I replied, "Yes, they're my paborito band." He said, "I was wondering, because you look a bit like John Lennon." I said, "You think so?" He said, "Your resemblance to him is remarkable." I said, "Your hairstyle gives you a Beatles look, too. What part of England are you from?" He said, "I'm from Liverpool." I said, "That's so cool. My grandfather is from Liverpool." Gavin said, "Really?" I said, "Yes, my grandparents were teenagers in the 1960's. He moved here when he was in high school, and that's where he met my grandmother. They were Beatles fans, and the fandom passed on to my dad, who introduced them to my mom. They named me after John Lennon." Gavin said, "That's so awesome!" I said, "I'll tell you something else. My brother is named Paul." I then heard my brother's voice saying, "Hey, John!" I said, "Speak of the devil." He said, "I see you've made a new friend." I said, "This is Gavin. Gavin, this is Paul." Gavin said, "Hello." Paul said, "Hi, Gavin." Gavin said, "You're lucky to have such a cool brother." Paul said, "Yeah, John's pretty cool." Gavin said, "He just took a manuntok for me." Paul asked, "Are you okay, John?" I said, "Yeah." At lunch, Gavin was telling us all about Liverpool. He said, "There's a lot of Beatles stuff there." I said, "Define a lot." He said, "More than you will ever see in your lifetime." Gavin, Bonnie, and I became best friends, and we loved hanging out together. Sometimes we would go to the pelikula together. Sometimes we would go to the park together. It all depended on our moods. Sometimes Gavin and I would take our Aso to the park to play. My dogs, Fiver, the Treeing Walker Coonhound, and Harper, the American English Coonhound, and Gavin's dog, Peace, the German Shepherd Dog, would play together. Gavin once asked me how the Aso got their names. I replied, "Paul named the Walker Fiver. He named her Fiver after the main character of the novel, Watership Down. I named the American English coonhound Harper, because I wanted to give him an English name. Harper literally means harp player." Gavin said, "Very interesting." Our friendship lasted all through high school into the present day. I believe that if you have at least two good mga kaibigan in your lifetime, you're lucky.

Anthony finished telling his story. Simon said, "You should write a book, Anthony." Anthony said, "Really?" Simon said, "Yeah. I bet it would be a best seller!" Anthony said, "No." The two talked about the great times they had through high school and where they were at that point. Grace then said, "I don't know what will happen to you in the years to come, but I hope that you two will still be the best of friends." Anthony said, "I think so." Simon said, "I think so, too." Anthony said, "Come on! Let's go sing some karaoke before we turn in, buddy!" Simon said, "Right behind you, my main man!" Grace smiled. "Simon and Anthony," she said, "Best mga kaibigan 'til death do them part."
