This movie is, without a shadow of a doubt, the best of the Disney sequels. First of all, Sinderella is able to really assert her independence, and become much madami proactive and bold; she is even able to fight her way out of a twisted kalabasa carriage when Lady Tremaine tries to have her killed off sa pamamagitan ng Lucifer, and then rides the horse back to her wedding, with Jaq and Gus in tow, determined to save her happy ending.
Another important reason is the quality of the hand-drawn animation, which looks spectacular for a direct-to-DVD sequel, and is a vast improvement over its critically panned predecessor; Sinderella 2: Dreams Come True. I have one complaint that I would like to get out of the way; one area of the movie that slightly disappointed me and held me back from giving it the full 10/10 was the lack of development for Drizella and the lack of explanation as to why she was so willing to go along with Lady Tremaine, unlike Anastasia. She may not have shown any kind of romantic side, but the potential for redemption was still there.
There is one criticism of the movie I don't share with most of its fans; the songs. I personally enjoy all of the musical numbers, including Perfectly Perfect. I actually quite enjoy how Disney gatas the upbeat mood of Cinderella's original happy ending for all it's worth before Lady Tremaine gets her hands on the Fairy Godmother's wand. Speaking of Lady Tremaine, she is on tuktok form in this movie. She is shown to be relentless in trying to destroy Cinderella's happy ending, but even worse, ruthless towards her daughters if they dare to defy her; when Drizella almost divulges that she has had Sinderella exiled, Tremaine threatens to do the exact same thing to Drizella unless she keeps her mouth closed, and when Anastasia finally refuses to marry the Prince, to Cinderella's amazement, Lady Tremaine tries to turn them both into toads, which shows that their is no true pag-ibig within the Tremaine family, and the one thing
Lady Tremaine values above all else is power.
As for Anastasia, her path towards redemption and repairing her relationship with Sinderella is what ultimately makes this movie the saviour of the DTV movies. sa pamamagitan ng the time the Prince has rescued Sinderella from exile and Lady Tremaine realizes that pag-ibig is too strong for magic, you can tell Anastasia's becoming increasingly uneasy and reluctant. Her good nature finally comes through when Anastasia is transformed into a clone of Sinderella and is about to be married to the Prince, while the real Sinderella makes it back to the wedding just in time to witness, to her amazement, Anastasia saying 'I...DON'T', having realised she doesn't truly pag-ibig the Prince. Sinderella finally sees the good lying deep within her stepsister, and I was personally unimpressed that they took it out of the novelised versions; it is sa pamamagitan ng far the biggest turning point in Cinderella's relationship with Anastasia.
And what ensues over the final few minutos are the highlight of the entire Sinderella franchise. Infuriated sa pamamagitan ng Anastasia's sudden conscience, Lady Tremaine emerges from her hiding place and fends off the King's guards sa pamamagitan ng turning them into animals. Tremaine is about to turn Anastasia into toad in revenge for her refusing to marry the Prince, until Sinderella bravely steps in to protect her, as she is grateful that Anastasia has finally turned her back on wickedness and wants to fix her happy ending. (although this doesn't bother Tremaine as she decides to get revenge on Sinderella and Anastasia sa pamamagitan ng turning them both into toads, and Prince Charming is forced to step in).
After Prince Charming protects them both (inadvertently turning Lady Tremaine and Drizella into toads), Anastasia reunites Sinderella and the Prince and picks up the magic wand, and to everyone's amazement, she transforms back to her normal self. Seeing her stepsister's remorse, Sinderella forgives Anastasia and thanks her for refusing to marry the Prince, bringing their animosity to an end, in a genuinely satisfying moment. And finally, Sinderella marries Kit again and fixes her happy ending, having finally made amends with her stepsister. Her life is now even madami Perfectly Perfect than her nakaraan happy ending; not only is she now a princess and a wife, but she is also True Sister to Anastasia. That is why Sinderella 3 is the best Disney sequel, and the best in the Sinderella Trilogy.
One a side-note, though, there are a few things that held be back from giving this film the full 10/10; the first reason is my aforementioned reservation about Drizella's lack of development, the other two are not necessarily complaints, but things that I feel could have improved the movie's impact even more. First of all, the Disney Prince is pretty much always the last line of defence for a Princess, but I would've loved it if Sinderella broke that trend sa pamamagitan ng asking Kit to hand her his sword, and telling him that she, herself, had to defend Kit and Anastasia from Lady Tremaine. I would have also liked it if in the final shot of the movie, we see Cinderella, Kit and Anastasia in a group hug and Sinderella delivering her final line to the camera; 'And we will all live happily ever after...Again!', as if to really drive tahanan the message that they are now a family. But, needless to say, Sinderella 3 is still the best in the Trilogy, and in spite of its status as a DTV movie, a worthy follow-up to the first movie, and one of the best Disney pelikula of all time.
Side Note: sa pamamagitan ng the way, the small mga panipi I put under the pictures don't appear in the movie. I just created them myself.
