Damon & Elena Article: A'ighty, concerning episode 18...

2x18 (Elena looks rather accepting, doesn't she?)

So I've been considering posting this for a while, and with all the pessimism I've seen on here lately, I think it's about time I say it.
Now, all I hear lately is "ELENA TOTES DIDN'T REACT WELL ENOUGH TO DAMON'S 'I will always. choose. you' LIKE OMG!" and I just have to say something about that.
Listen, I know you may be frustrated, but I think honestly, that was a FANTASTIC reaction.
And you wanna know why?
IMMEDIATELY, I saw her face...
and you know what face she was making?
the same one from 2x8, 'Rose', when Damon told her he loved her.
There was a look of slight confusion, maybe even a little acceptance, and shock. But not shock in a bad way, shock as in...she could not have imagined Damon saying that, like in 2x8. She was startled sa pamamagitan ng his pure, unbridled passion. Passion is NOT something Elena is used to, being with St. Stefan and all that...sorry, but that's just the way I see it. Stefan isn't very passionate, he's just too lovey and cheesy and a smidge boring...sorry!
But REALLY, I nearly screamed, because you know what happened with that scene?
All those feelings, all of the feelings from 2x08 from that moment Elena was compelled to forget?
They came back.
And you can TELL. I swear, she even looks at his freaking BED, as if saying
"you+me+bed=...?"
REALLY, Elena? "Goodnight, Damon"? Did you REALLY want to go to bed? Or was your mind on OTHER things...;)
Oh it's okay, Elena, we've ALL been there, that pantasiya when we look at Damon's bed, FINALLY you've reached that point.
I am BEYOND happy that scene played out like it did, because you could SEE it. They're just THAT good of actors.
Alright, that was all I needed to say, I just hope I reassured some people who were angered with the scene... :)
(oh, sidenote: Are any of you angry that Damon pointed out that Stefan doesn't do anything? I don't mean that to DEFEND Stefan, cause he DOESN'T do anything, but NOW he's gonna try to step up his game which pisses me off. Damn, cause now he's AWARE of it, I just wish he wasn't. And he remained that boring, useless...brooder. Alright, that is all!)

darkdoll59 I actually loved that scene . and I think that Elena started to accept Damon feeling and she is now realizing that they are beyond the friends boundaries. maybe with her acceptance of his feeling she is going to accept her feeling for him.

TVD_Lover Thank goodness! Someone's actually appreciative for that scene! I don't know, everyone's moping around here, and I'm doing a freaking happy dance. AM I REALLY THE ONLY ONE?! XD

traceypharm Great article! I thought it was too early for a kiss myself, as much as I wanted it, but I thought her face said it all. She looked surprised, awed, and flattered. Her smile as she said goodnight was very sweet. In the Rose episode, Elena was defensive before he wanted to confess, "Damon, don't go there." He says,'Just let me say this just once...I love you'; 2nd time around, something has definetly changed in her mind and heart for Damon. She ALLOWS him to say what is in HIS heart. "I just want to make this clear...I WILL ALWAYS CHOOSE YOU. And like you said, Stefan's character is so passive. Elena deserves so much more,and because of what Damon pointed out so brutely, he will try to prove it. But it will still be Damon who will save the day for Elena. Elena is (or was before her parents' death) passionate and full of life, and I feel that Stefan has been, and as long as they are together,will hold her back from becoming the woman she is meant to be. We all saw her light up with Damon as he danced with her! The same spark that lies deep in her soul,burns within Damon. There is a quote in the book about Damon verses Stefan about this, I can not remember it off hand. I am really glad that you wrote this! It's just the beginning for them.

tellymaster Yeah right. I would never complain about something this amazing. I suppose they could have had Elena say something else at the end, but a kiss? Way too early. I am not sure I would appreciate it fully. This scene is perfect the way it is.
