Damon & Elena Article: We are the fans service

First things first calm down, and don't hate me for just being honest with my opinion.

I'm sorry guys to break it to you p, but we are the fans service not SE, and here's why SE whether we like or not had a real reaplationship heavy on "real" but they did non the less this relationship went on for 3 YEARS, a relationship no matter how twisted, stuiped, cheesey, unrealistic it looked and felt like, is still was the main lasting "love" story (unlike caroline with Matt & Tyler or Jeremy with Anna p & Bonnie) their relationship stayed strong no matter how much we didn't want it to be.

As for DE JP and the writers kept just giving us little scenes here and there a little hope thought each season (I'm not saying they are not madami real than SE ever had because they were/are) but it was/still little things even very very very short scenes if you compare them to how long any SE scene is(SE scenes are much longer they last like 4 mints where our scenes are barley a mint and half from S1-S4)

Now those little mints were there for a reason they wanted a pag-ibig tatsulok from the begging and they have created with these scenes , they wanted to have different sides of relationship the good side and the bad side to get madami fans to watch the show, to get interested in to get them obsessed with which one she will end up with, put they always always had a couple in mind as the endgame and that couple as much it breaks my puso to say it is SE.

They showed throught the season how much they pag-ibig each other, how no matter what comes in their way they go throught together no matter what EVEN him LETTING her DIE, EVEN when he Nawawala his humanity completely and tried to kill her for his selfish reasons, EVEN when he didn't accepet the real her they still loved each other, like dick sinabi in 1x01 this my story or some CRAP, it's all about him and Elena it always had been.

DE have ALWAYS been a tagahanga service from the begging they wanted something to draw audience in, and whats better than having a girl loving two brothers.

It makes scenes if you really think about it if DE were everan option of being the endgame the why did it take 4 YEARS preparing for it?? Why even when SE broke up and he turned her brother to a crazy hunter she didn't hate or blame him for it, why when he wanted everything to be erased of them, she still understood and didn't even get a little bit angry at him, why no matter how HORRIBLE he treated him she never once hated him or gave up on him?? Why??

Face the real reality guys, not the one the writers created for us, DE is a tagahanga service it ALWAYS has been, if you don't still believe me just watch season 5, really whatch it (without the DE tagahanga glasses) and then come back and tell me that we are the real deal and SE story is the tagahanga service because from they very brief scenes I watched on YT, SE still have a longer scene then we, SE still on our faces and not behind us not even for mint, not even for ONE episode because these this last two episodes was/is all about SE big time, but we so grateful that we have DE that we don't even realize it hence the reality the writers created for us.

But concerning that quote ^^ it makes no sense making her change brothers so many times... They could have given us DE briefly in season 3 without building up their relationship.. How can she after all this go back to Stefan? I know it's a triangle but it's such a lame storyline each season faalling in and out of love with the brothers..!!

cahe64 Because the characters (Damon & Elena) needed to develop before they could be together. And we don't get 100% they are not "there" yet. They must still grow and face obsticles, like the crazy dobbelganger thing. If the writers really hated us, then DE wouldn't have had all the epicness from previous seasons. The parrallels and their songs are amazing. Yes, I see Stefan too, and I'm pretty aware of the love triangle. I'm not surprised atl all. I was prepared for more Stelena crap, and I'll take it. Because I believe in Delena.

loveofdelena im sorry, but anyone who doubts delena, were never real delena fans to begin with.

sugarfairee I kinda have the same feeling @ loveDE45 .... I really don't like the way they are portraying Delena. When you compare Stelena (season1) and Delena (now) you can see which couple the writers prefer.. Stelena never really had these sexy scenes they had like cute and romantic scenes (cut the crap with "SE is the boring couple") so you felt like they really loved each other..Now lets look at Delena: All they have are sexy scenes (making out, sex scenes) so it does kinda feel like fan service to me. The delena fanbase suffered through 4 seasons and now lets give them some scenes to satisfy them! And @loveofdelena don't judge people for their opinion :) doubting Delena doesn't show that they aren't true shippers. Some people just look at things without "Delena-Glasses" on.

delenasalvatore Can I just set the record straight: SE's relationship DID NOT LAST 3 YEARS. Elena must've been a junior in high school when they met (S1), because she didn't graduate until last season. She's a freshman at college now. Therefore, SE have only been a couple for about a year or so. What makes it feel longer is the number of SEASONS as opposed to YEARS. SE weren't even a couple for S3. Stefan spent half of the season doing his ripper act, and the second half trying to get himself together. I'm not saying you are wrong to feel this way, but listen: if WE were the fan service as you say, then the writers could have put DE together long before this. S3 would have been a perfect time with Stefan away. DE could have had a sexy fling that lasted until Stefan came home again. They chose not to do that. We had to wait a long time, but it was never the right time before this. And I think you are overlooking various aspects of SE which need some serious thinking. SE have never been a credible couple. They kissed in 1x02. Had sex in 1x10. When Elena tells Jenna she and Stefan broke up in between those episodes, I was confused. I hadn't even known they were officially dating, as far as I could see, all they had done was hang out a few times and make out lots. Stefan was never honest with her about who he was. He never told her the truth about the extent of his ripperism even when he had the chance. As a character, Stefan could have been so much more interesting, but with Elena he seemed to exist as an extension of her personality. He was feeble and weak and there was just no substance to their relationship at all. They used each other to hide from the real world. I believe Elena only chose him at the end of S3 out of a sense of duty and loyalty to him. As she'd said, he was there for her at a time when she felt lost. Being with him gave her life a sense of normalcy again. These 2 basically were each others emotional crutches in the time they were together. The fact that Elena forgave him so easily whenever he hurt her isn't indicative of how much she LOVES him. When someone you really love treats you badly it's only natural that you're going to be very hurt. I always saw Elena's ability to forgive Stefan at the drop of a hat as a sign that she just didn't feel that passionately about him. As a couple, they are not credible at all. All couples have arguments don't they? SE have never been able to work through anything that was bothering them. I believe that writing the doppelganger connection is simply acting as a way to convince SE fans that their couple will get back together. I wouldn't say it's really needed in the show. But now DE are together, what else do the writers and fans have? Without the doppelganger connection, they've got nothing. All they're doing is pandering to SE'ers, and if you don't think that's fan service now that DE are a legitimate couple, then tell me what is?

delenahappiness This show has always been a LOVE TRIANGLE, Delena may look as a fan service for you but they were always supposed to happen in one way or another. The only ship that could be fan service in TVD is Klaroline, I'm totally disagree with you.

sugarfairee @delenahappiness I know that they were always supposed to happen but I just don't like the way they are portrayed in S5 !! @delenasalvatore I'm 100% sure that SE will be together again since the main point of the show/books is the love triangle! Sorry but do you guys really think that Delena will be together for 2 seasons?? I know I'm being negative but I'm trying to look at the show without being biased..

delenahappiness @sugarfairee we've watched only two episodes, we really don't know yet the direction of Delena in this season. There are so many reasons of why Stefan and Elena won't be a couple anymore, that would not only ruin more the love triangle but affect Elena's character in a bad way. There are so many ways to keep the love triangle alive, is not necessary see them together again to keep it so yeah, they may kiss or something like that in S6 but that's all. This doppelganger connection is an obstacle for Delena (and a way to keep the love triangle alive) at the end of the day, just like the sirebond in S4. Damon and Elena are getting the obstacles and that proves that they are the main love story

delenasalvatore @sugarfairee, OK, explain to me how SE will get back together, when Elena gave that speech in the finale about how she loves Damon even though he may not be the 'best choice' for her, and that she's not sorry about it; and when she explicitly tells him that in spite of wanting to find Stefan etc, she'll still love Damon?? She was completely genuine in both those scenes, without a hint of the self-righteous 'I would never do that' of 2x01 and her naive 'It's always gonna be Stefan!' of the same episode. They may not be together for 2 seasons, but there could be any number of reasons which doesn't involve Stefan. Like, they could get separated, there could be a life or death crisis, Damon might have to let Elena go because he is having a personal conflict and doesn't think he'll be good enough for her, TVD's new villain could threaten Elena or Jeremy's safety because he doesn't want DE together for whatever reason...there's loads of things. Have some imagination. I firmly believe that the majority of fans are sick of the triangle, but they put up with it because they have to. And I definitely believe that if Elena were to go back on everything she said recently only to go back to STEFAN then fans would hate her and it would ruin her integrity, the triangle and the show. SE have had their time together as a couple. They had 2+ seasons. They might have got back together if Elena hadn't slept with Damon lots of times, but she has. If DE had only had a one night stand, then it might have been more acceptable but even fantasy shows need some moral boundaries, and it doesn't take a saint to realise that for a girl to sleep with one brother, then his older brother, then go back to the first brother, is very icky and belongs on one of those trashy morning talk shows. Julie said she used the sire bond to break up SE, because otherwise, Elena was too deep in denial over Damon to ever admit what she felt for him. It would be pretty absurd for the writers to do all that if Elena was just gonna return to Stefan anyway. Because the only reason she was even sired to Damon in the first place was because of what she already felt for him as a human. I'm not saying it's wrong to have doubts, and I'm not saying that I don't hate the DG connection because I do. I'm just saying that right now, the sum of your fears is about what SE is and Delena isn't. As @delenahappiness said, DE are getting all the obstacles and that proves they are the main love story. SE never had any obstacles, unless you count Damon.

cahe64 @delenasalvatore: well said. Elena made a very clear desiscion in 4x23, and this was before "poor Stefan" got trapped underwater. Elena was released from the sirebond, had her emotions back, and could think clearly. She let go of Stefan without shedding a tear, and choose to follow her heart (Damon), no matter how hard it would be. Because she knows one thing: she loves him. And yes, the triangle will continue. But it doesn't mean that Stelena will become like they were before. It's really about moving on now, I think. But that's hard with the dobbelganger thing. And you're right: the obstacles only proof that they are the big love story.

sugarfairee @delenasalvatore I wouldn't use her speech as a proof tbh.. because if you remember the Stelena roof scene in 4x01 you'll see that such speeches aren't really credible in TVD ;) I don't know why but I'm not buying the whole "just friends" thing between Stefan and Elena but I have to wait and see how they will behave towards each other once the real Stefan returns. "It would be pretty absurd for the writers to do all that if Elena was just gonna return to Stefan anyway." -> I think some TVD writers are known for absurd choices :D like I said we have to wait and see :)

Safora6 I understand your opinion, but I don't agree with it. If this show has shown us anything, DE are the couple that has undergone the most development. Surely the development is leading to something? This show is not about the break down of the Delena romance, it's about their growth and the development of their relationship and romance and love. They have experienced the most obstacles and the most significant ones (for example, Damon killing Jeremy and the sire bond), only for their love to intensify and strengthen despite the troubles they have faced and will continue to face. Stelena were a main couple, it's true, but Delena came more and more into the spotlight in Season 3 when it became evident that Elena was falling for Damon. Their relationship couldn't happen immediately, because it wouldn't justify why Elena would leave Stefan so soon (because they were in love). Regardless of how much or little screen time Delena has received in comparison to Stelena, their story has received more focus as the obstacles they have faced have been aimed at building their love and showing their unconditional + enduring love. One only needs to pay attention to Elena's conduct and dialogue with regard to both brothers to realise that it is Damon she truly loves and will end up with. That's what the story has been building up to. This story revolves around a love triangle, so obviously, they have to include all elements of the love triangle and cannot simply satisfy one side of it. For me, SE is the fan service; this whole DB is proof of that, just like the SB was used to give SE fans hope that Elena's love for Damon was false and she would go back to Stefan when it was broken; and look how that turned out. Most importantly - and I will always stand by this because I believe it to be completely and utterly true - if Elena deeply and truly loved Stefan, she would never have fallen in love with Damon, because when you truly love someone, you will never fall in love with someone else. That reason alone, leads me to believe that DE will be endgame.

cahe64 Well said, Safora6. Delena face the most difficult obstacles because it's leading to something. Their "graph line" may have valley's (like every couple), but it's always growing. While Stelena is leading nowhere, even after 4 seasons. Look how far Damon came because of Elena, and she because of him!!! And look how far Stefan came...he's a ripper...AGAIN.

Okay, I'm sick and tired of people saying we ship DE cuz "ian is hot!" WTF!!!!! I'm not even gonna bother Pagsulat the reasons why I ship them cuz it'll be like the 9987657384950482th time i say them. People need to get a life. If we ship Delena because Ian is hot then why don't we ship "Bamon or "Stelena (i think Paul is incredibly HOTT)???huh?? It really hurts my feelingS when people say this, do they really think we are that shallow?? We ship DE cuz of the right reasons.
