The Vampire Diaries could end after its upcoming sixth season, star Ian Somerhalder has hinted."It very well could be our last [season]," the actor said.

"I think now that there\'s a finality to it, everyone\'s really realising that this is a very important time in our lives. We created some very cool storytelling".

The CW is yet to officially confirm the future of The Vampire Diaries beyond its sixth season, which is scheduled to premiere on October 2 in the US.
