I would never forgive them and I am scared it could happen, no matter what percentage of fans think. It would show a spirit of absolute disregard and contempt to use fans just to keep a show going.

That's kind of how the book publishers treated book fans too. "We do not care what they think, we want only Stelena, fire L.J so we can have our way."

if they do its on them. i will never understand why you would like to have this show be remembered for dicking around 90% of the viewers instead of the best written well acted and greatest love story ever told with an ending deserving of happiness finally 4 damon with all the suffering and unhappiness to final redemption and unconditional love with elena journey they made us go on. like damon once said "what's the point" if what we get is an s/e ending after 6 beautiful years of watching d/e's relationship develope realistically ( unlike s/e)what dumb fucks would want that stigma 2 be attached 2 the show 4ever.D/E OR FU

As much as I hate the thought, they COULD, absolutely do this. They're not stupid. They know that Delena have a huge fanbase, and they basically slowed the development of the triangle down in Season 2 to make us want DE to be together even more. No matter what public gaffes on Twitter Julie has made, or how thoughtless Kevin has been regarding the 'SE equals Soulmates' (fast forward a couple of months) 'You don't always end up with your soulmate' topic, they cannot deny that DE is what gets everyone talking, and that Ian Somerhalder is the most loved character on the show. No matter what they might say in interviews (anyone remember the 'Damon represents an obstacle in SE's relationship' comment by Julie a while ago?), I believe they know, without a doubt, 100% that without Delena, their show would still be good, but not AS GOOD. SE would NEVER sell the show on their own. Without Delena, SE would sink, and eventually, so would the show. That's why it pains me to think the producers would use DE to manipulate viewers. But if they did do this, then they would be playing a dangerous game with the viewing public. If they just used DE to woo audience figures without giving a thought to making them endgame, they risk hacking off an enormous segment of their viewers, and facing a backlash which would inevitably result in a large proportion of their fans abandoning the show. And the last thing they want to do at the end of 6 years is to end the show by ticking off 70-80 percent of their audience who has faithfully watched the show since the beginning.

Yep I beleive wholeheartedly that the writers ARE playing off of DE popularity to keep people watchng their show. They will drag it out untill they get close to the end of the series or the fans revolt.
Most news media only remark and make a big deal on DE potential coupledom. Twitter only gets excited about DE/Damon stuff. The writers and the network see this.

After I read an article by L.J. Smith I'm convinced they won't make DE endgame. They wanted Stelena to be endgame from the beginning and Elena to just be physically attracted to Damon. But Smith didn't feel it that way and wanted DE to be endgame. Since the publishers didn't like DE they fired Smith and now some stupid ghostwriter who has no understanding of the story whatsoever is writing the other books. But I sent an email to the publishers, saying what they want doesn't matter and that they're selfish. If they want SE together they just write the freaking story themself! I'm not just talking from reader's point of view, but from writer's as well. You can't just write what people tell you to write. You write what's in your heart and DE is what's in Smith's heart. If the publishers don't care about the fans, they should at least care about the money, because by not giving the majority what they want, they'll lose their trust and therefor a lot of readers.

Possibly. But I still don't get it. DE have the most fans and that's still not enough to make them endgame? And now they're choosing to drag it on until the series end? Very smart, but bad, bad move, writers.

I think that the writers and producers will keep teasing the Delena fandom, they won't give us the candy just yet... they'll tease and tease until the end. And call me a pessimist, but I think the writers and all the TVD staff (the ones who have the last decision) want SE to be endgame.

If they wait till the very end of the show to reveal that DE won't be the endgame then it won't matter. That's probably what they're thinking.

I think that doesn´t make sense at all. When they really love SE so much and don´t like DE at all, why not just write SE like they are THE couple of the show??? From the beginning it was never just about SE, believe me I watched many shows and I can recognize when a couple is written as THE couple of the show. With SE there is nothing there. Show me one scene where you could clearly say that Elena cared about Stefans life more then about Damons, when both were in danger! Also the writers choosed for Elena to say that she doesn´t know what love is- never ever would one part of the pairing in a TV show say that while they are together, when they are meant to be together... By deciding to put that there, the writers just cheapened their whole realtionship...

No. They make all this build ups because they know that their story will be epic that will lead to endgame.
