It had been many years since the birth of their daughter Catori and though John Smith and Pocahontas were as healthy as ever and appeared as if they hadn’t even aged, it was their daughter they were concerned for. She was born a beautiful healthy baby girl and though she was just as beautiful as the araw she was born, there was a change in her and the change got all the madami worse with each passing day. John and Pocahontas spent many sleepless nights awake watching their daughter sleep to assure her safety. They often took turns in the night but as each sun rose, they stayed awake together to gratefully welcome their daughter into another araw they were all granted. Though Catori lived her life as happily as anyone else, John and Pocahontas were constantly haunted sa pamamagitan ng the seriousness of her condition. A small fourteen years had passed and in the last ten years, Catori’s skin and hair lightened. It had lighten to the point that she took her father’s appearance rather than her mother’s as she did the araw of her birth. It was her unknown condition which made it so.
Kekata had made much medicine from the earth and gratefully it seemed to work for a while until Catori’s body began to refuse the treatment. The thought of losing their daughter was too much to bear.
John held Pocahontas close one morning as they watched the sunrise and their daughter with close tearful eyes.
“Pocahontas darling,” John spoke as he held Pocahontas in his arms.
She sinabi nothing. She simply looked over at him, waiting for his response.
“We can’t stay here any longer.”
    “What?”
John motioned to their sleeping daughter. Pocahontas winced at the sorrowful sight and turned away. John gently placed his finger on her chin and moved her face to his sight.
“There is medicine in London. Medicine far greater than any we’ve been using. I’ve been talking with the English men in Jamestown and they hear news from London of a new kind of medicine that is known to heal anything. We must go. There is a ship that leaves this morning.”
    “You want us to go?”
“Pocahontas we must,” John’s eyes slowly began to fill with tears as he fought to hold them long ago. He decided long nakaraan that he would be strong for his family and would not allow himself to cry. He stopped himself from shedding any tears. “If there’s a new hope for her, we have to try it.”
“Yes,” Pocahontas agreed. “I understand. I just worry the ship will be a hard ride for her and cause her worse pain and madami illness, but I understand. We have to leave this place and bring her to that new hope.”
Pocahontas inched closer to John and he immediately wrapped his arms around her in a tight grip. They sat watching the sun rise over them and over their daughter. Perhaps a new hope was to soon rise as well.

They sinabi their goodbyes and cried their final farewells. They had promised only to return when Catori was healed. Chief Powhatan prayed over his granddaughter and hoped for her healing and ligtas return. Catori was as bravo as ever and excited for the unexpected journey. Pocahontas was sad to leave her father and mga kaibigan behind but she knew the sadness she’d feel if she ever Nawawala her daughter would be greater so she did what had to be done and went aboard the ship with her husband and child. She looked back one last time with a hopeless puso knowing she would never see her tahanan again. John looked down at her with hope in his eyes. He still believed there was a chance for his daughter as long as they held on to that hope. Catori ran before them excited for their new life to start. She had no pain saying goodbye to her grandfather, for she knew she would see them again. With their past sorrow behind them, they left for London.
She looked back one last time with a hopeless puso knowing she would never see her tahanan again. John looked down at her with hope in his eyes. He still believed there was a chance for his daughter as long as they held on to that hope.
She looked back one last time with a hopeless heart knowing she would never see her home again. John looked down at her with hope in his eyes. He still believed there was a chance for his daughter as long as they held on to that hope.

So here is the companion piece to my paborito DP mothers article. Let me preface this sa pamamagitan ng saying that I don’t dislike any of the DP fathers; I just prefer some over others. There were several factors I considered when making this list, so it’s not necessarily my ranking of the best and worst fathers. Just like the last article, I’m sure I’ll have some unpopular opinions. I don’t expect everybody to agree with me, but please don’t leave any rude comments.

I pag-ibig the live action version of this character, but the animated version unfortunately falls...
