I'm sure many of you are aware that Beauty and the Beast is my paborito Disney movie, since I can't help but trumpet that fact everywhere I go, but lately I've been hearing a lot about the plot holes present in the film. I hadn't ever noticed any of these discrepancies until people pointed them out to me, and I was surprised to find that their presence did nothing to diminish my pag-ibig for the movie. Normally the revelation of these plot holes would have bumped the movie down several spots on my list, but instead they provided pagkain for thought. I'm not here to deny their existence, because they're definitely there, but what follows is a collection of my theories and explanations concerning these plot holes. It is purely my opinion and you have every right to disagree with it.

Let's begin with the most obvious plot hole: the timeline issues. It's somewhat ambiguous as to whether the movie takes place over a period of months or days. Personally I've always viewed it as months because when Maurice leaves for the fair you can see the leaves on the trees changing color, thus indicating it is early autumn, and when the spell is broken there are bulaklak buds everywhere, so we can infer that the season is now spring.
Time to go jump in a pile of leaves!

bulaklak blossoms galore! I hope no one has allergies.
Flower blossoms galore! I hope no one has allergies.

The problem with taking this view is that Maurice is madami than a little scatterbrained, and there's no way he could have survived the winter months alone in the forest. A common theme in many fairytales is that time passes differently in the faerie realm than in the mortal world. One of the better known examples of this is the faerie ring: an unwary traveler stumbles into a ring of mushrooms and discovers a faerie party going on. They sumali in the revelry for what seems like only a couple hours, but when they break away to continue on their journey they find that a lifetime has passed and all their mga kaibigan and family are either very old or dead. I like to think that, since Beauty and the Beast takes place in an enchanted castle, Belle could easily have spent a few months there when only a few days passed in the surrounding forest and town, thus resolving the conflicting timelines.

Another time related issue that we see in the film is the problem with the Beast's age. At the beginning it is stated that the rose will "bloom until his twenty-first year," and later the enchanted objects say "ten years we've been rusting." From this we can deduce that the Beast was only eleven when he was placed under his curse. However, the portrait that is hanging in his chambers, which was presumably painted before the spell, clearly depicts a man who is at least in his mid-teens. My theory concerning this is probably the most far fetched of all my theories, but I find it satisfactory nonetheless. I don't know how many of you have read The Picture of Dorian Gray sa pamamagitan ng Oscar Wilde (I highly recommend it), but if you haven't here is a quick summary of the plot: a beautiful young man has a portrait painted of him. Desiring to remain youthful forever, he unwittingly makes a deal with the devil so that he will remain young and beautiful while his portrait ages and reflects all of the sins he commits during his lifetime.

The ripped drapes and dark atmosphere ipakita a lot of time has passed.
The ripped drapes and dark atmosphere ipakita a lot of time has passed.
pagbaba this book got me thinking - what if the Beast's portrait has the same premise behind it? If the rest of the objects in the kastilyo are enchanted, it's likely that the portrait is enchanted as well, and as the years go sa pamamagitan ng the portrait changes to reflect what the Beast's human form would look like as he gets older. The first time we see the portrait, the room is dark, dirty, and ruined, so we can assume that the Beast has been under the spell for a while, perhaps a few years, so instead of depicting an eleven taon old boy it shows us a teenager. The portrait served as a reminder to the Beast of the beauty he believes he will never again possess, and this is the reason why he rips it - he can no longer stand having those blue eyes taunt him with their beauty.

Now let's go back to the very beginning of the movie which opens with a beautiful view of the kastilyo and tells us of the prince that lives there. But we must stop and wonder: what exactly is he a prince of? It is explicitly stated that the movie takes place in France, and France already has a ruler, so where did the Beast come from and how are the townspeople not aware of the kastilyo that sits on their doorstep? I've always entertained the notion that the Beast is actually from a fairytale land, and that when the Beautiful Enchantress cursed him and his kastilyo she also banished them to the real world. The kastilyo is far enough away from the town that the villagers aren't aware of its existence, but sa pamamagitan ng the time Belle comes along the enchanted objects have met enough Nawawala travelers to understand that they are now in a strange place known as France.

There are two "plot holes" that I've heard mentioned which I actually don't think are plot holes at all, so I want to clear those up. The first is that it doesn't make sense how Gaston and the mob found the Beast's kastilyo so quickly when Maurice couldn't find it even after having already visited it once. When I first heard this I just facepalmed.
 Gaston with the magic mirror.
Gaston with the magic mirror.
First off, Maurice wasn't paying attention to where he was going the first time he encountered the kastilyo - he was running for his life from a bloodthirsty pack of mga lobo for God's sake! I find it very hard to believe that anyone would be able to retrace their steps after something like that, especially someone as scatterbrained as Maurice. Secondly, did anyone notice that Gaston was holding the magic mirror? That mirror shows you "anything you wish to see." Gaston could easily command it to ipakita him the way to the castle, and I reckon that's what he did. On tuktok of that he's the best hunter in town, so he probably knows the forest well anyway. The segundo plot hole is the Beast's nonexistent parents. Someone please explain to me how this is in any way a plot hole? Out of all the Disney princes, Charming, Phillip, Shang, and Naveen are the only ones who don't have nonexistent parents, and even then we don't know what happened to Charming, Phillip, and Shang's mothers. Can you really call this a plot hole? It doesn't have a direct effect on the plot, and it is such a common occurrence that I don't consider it one.

I tend to view plot holes in pelikula as places where we can insert our own ideas about what happened, and I've had a lot of fun coming up with these theories. The plot holes in other DP pelikula don't fascinate me quite as much, but I've still done some thinking about them. I hope you enjoyed pagbaba this artikulo as much as I enjoyed Pagsulat it! Tell me what you think of my crazy speculations!
*sniff* I just pag-ibig happy endings!

Alright this is madami of a rant than anything because "Enchanted" is one of my paborito pelikula and I cannot believe she isn't in the line up or is thought of as a Disney Princess. And I know the movie is making fun of the stereotypical princess when she meets the real world but there are so many allusions to the movie, especially The Little Mermaid in a lot of them. BUT ANYWHO let's get started.
The usual reason Disney deems a character a Disney Princess is usually because they are the heroine of the movie and have a few musical numbers where sinabi heroine sings in. They also are very beautiful...

Belle and Beast
For me, Belle is one of the smartest princesses. I know some of you wouldn't agree, but I really think she is brainy. Now I'll start my discussion...

1. Being a Bookworm
For me, bookworms are oftenly smart. You know, the madami you read the madami you learn, the madami you absorb information. Plus, pagbaba a lot of stories makes her articulate and English literate. Last one, this is a personal experience, all of the bookworms I know are one of those very smart people I know in this world, so it may also be the same instance as Belle.

2. Being Open Minded
For me, Belle is an open minded person. Open mindedness...

I can't believe I haven't written an artikulo about this, oh anyway I think most of the DP Smiles are very pretty and this is the first artikulo where Merida is included

11. Pocahontas
Sometimes pretty, but mostly it looks as if she's forced to smile
Sometimes pretty, but mostly it looks as if she's forced to smile

Oh come on, her smile is not very pretty, it feels as if she's forced to smile, sometimes her smile can look very pretty, but oftenly it just feels forced and that is one of the reasons to why she's rarely seen smiling in the merchandise.

10. Mulan
Pretty, but looks oftenly weird because of her lips

9.Tiana
Tiana is too grounded and doesn't believe in wishing upon stars, whereas Rapunzel's very nature is about believing in destiny and fate. She would admire Tiana for her independence, really, but there would be a lack of connection and she wouldn't care too much about Tiana's work ethic.

8.Aurora
While they would connect over the 'hidden princess' similarity, Rapunzel would...

One of my all time paborito authors is Jane Austen. When I read her novels I feel as if I have been transported to a different time and place; I feel the same way when I watch a Disney movie. They both take my mind off of my every araw life, and take me into a world with chivalry, and romance. I’ve always thought Belle and Elizabeth Bennet were a lot alike, and lately I’ve been pagbaba a lot of Jane Austen, and watching some of the pelikula that have been inspired sa pamamagitan ng her work, and I thought about Pagsulat this article. I’m going to match up each Disney Princess with a heroine from a Jane...

That's Right! I made this!
I can’t imagine who’d be interested in pagbaba this senseless garbage but apparently there are some out there who do since ya’ll keep posting these things. I get it; it’s the hip thing to do, everyone else is doing it, surely someone out there cares about my opinion on something so trivial as the order in which I objectify 9 women. Well it’s happened my lovelies—I’ve ibingiay in to the peer pressure. But if I’m gonna do this, I’m gonna do this only once and I'm gonna do it thoroughly! So for any of you who could possibly give a good gosh darn,...

As the first Disney film of the Disney Renaissance, in a way this film epitomizes the look of the modern animated feature. While The Little Mermaid defies and pangkalahatang classification, it does however reference a number of pre-existing artworks.

I'm sorry, I was really lazy so I photoshopped quickly and some not at all. Even I disagree on some of them. Well, let me know which celebrity you think could play a Disney princess!!!

Liv Tyler as Ariel
I think that Liv's face is fresh and she can rock the red lipstick and the hair.

Rachel Mcadams as Aurora
Rachel's lips and blonde hair reminded me of Aurora. They also both have the same body type.

Natalie Portman as Belle
I'm not sure what it is, maybe it's the feminine traits.

Scarlett Johansson as Cinderella
Scarlett's lips and eyes make me think of Cinderella.

One of the subjects that interest me the most about pelikula (including DP movies) is the box-office. I think that if used in the right way (I mean, inflation-adjusting things), it might be a good way to compare pelikula and understed why they are popular or not. So I spent some time researching and I finally came up with the North American grosses of the 10 DP Movies. Hope you enjoy my research, my comments and my images.

#10 - The Princess and the Frog - $107.7 million
If the word "flop" applies to any of the DP Movies, unfortunately, it's this one. The Princess and the Frog's marketing was...

Just like the way princesslullaby made an arti about how she disliked Aladdin, I'm going to tell why I hate Naveen. First I'm going to say if your a tagahanga of Naveen who's just going to cry about me hating on him just leave now. If you don't wanna hear it than don't read it. Secondly he's the animated character I hate the most of all animated characters. Anyway here's the article.

First off I'm annoyed sa pamamagitan ng the tagahanga girls I meet online(not just fanpop but other websites too). They're just in pag-ibig with him for some reason. Hello he's a womanizer! How can you pag-ibig that? Sure he's handsome but there's...
