Sorry, I am too lazy to search pictures, and this question did not really need them.

I have a thing for unhappy and/or bittersweet endings. I think Aladdin, The Princess and the Frog and Tangled threw away good opportunities for unhappy endings.

The only DP ending that wasn't a happily ever after thing was Pocahontas. And that was the best part of the movie it was really powerful and messed with your emotions. If Disney can pull that off again,I'll love to see it!

Well to be honest bittersweet endings are different than unhappy endings. Unhappy ending may imply that could be sad,not saying that would be or not. If I wanted to be sad I would turn on the news. Bittersweet on the other hand, may imply that the ending is like something so close but you can't touch it,which would make you feel for the character that much more. Like Pocahontas for example. But all-in-all I say nay to in happy endings.

I'd like to see it if Disney ever dares to create one. For one thing, children won't like it and you know that nowadays Disney movies are always looking for money.

I agree with lionkingartist, there's a difference between a bittersweet and an unhappy ending. I'm completely fine with a Pocahontas-like ending, where not everything goes right, but I don't consider it sad and I hate sad endings. And I know that it's nice to see Disney becoming more for adults e.t.c., but please, don't destroy COMPLETELY her whole concept, let it keep at least some of the happy innocent magic for CHILDREN. I'm fine if a character dies or the princess doesn't get the prince, but there still can be a happy ending with these circumstances.

Moana is up next and I look forward to it being the upbeat film that Musker and Clements have promised. Considering their track record of bringing us The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Hercules and Princess and the Frog, I look forward to a DP film that's on the upbeat side and not one that's somber and depressing.

I find that the main point of Disney movies is to teach children moral values, as well as give them hope.Children need to learn to believe that things can work out in the end because when life pushes them down, where else are they going to get the strength to get back up. A bittersweet, Pocahontas type, ending could be alright since at the end there is still a message that there is somewhere to go. Unhappy endings though seem very final, and it generally takes a lot of emotional maturity to be able to look past them and realize that just because this ending is unhappy, it doesn't mean all are. Something that I don't think most young children who would watch a Disney Princess film would have.
