They were in completely different circumstances. Maurice going after Belle would likely save her (had the Beast been evil). Fa Zhou going after Mulan would expose her as a woman and get her executed.

Both Maurice and Fa Zhou love their daughters but I am going with Fa Zhou because of how important it was to the movie Fa Zhou cheered his daughter up when she failed with the Matchmaker and was extremely distressed when she takes his place in the army knowing that he could not do anything to save his since it would result in her death now whenever i watch Mulan i can't help but think what Fa Zhou was going through and every time when I watch the part when her identity was exposed I can't help but think of how close he came to losing her and adds more weight to when they are reunited since he came too close to never seeing her again
