At least Ariel doesn't sexualize herself to get through her problems. Ariel always acts like herself and never falters from her choices. Jasmine is bratty and ignorant and relies on her looks too much.

^ She "acts like herself"? And Jasmine doesn't? And not faltering from your choices isn't always a good thing.


While I'll admit neither are that great of role models.

She makes better choices and has better reasons for her actions.

I consider NONE of the DPs to be great role models. That said, Ariel is less overtly angry about her disappointments in life, preferring to keep them between herself and her family, whilst Jasmine, loudly decries her perceived injustices in public ( in front of her father, Aladdin, and Jafar), Ariel shows more tact, while Jasmine doesn't. I also know why Ariel ran away ( because her father chased her out). To this day, I still don't know completely why Jasmine ran away. I know she was bored and cooped up. But the sultan didn't seem to be mistreating Jas at all ( punishing her for holding different views than he did).

She stands up for herself when it's not easy. Not that Ariel doesn't, but IMO Jasmine had a harder time.
