As someone who has anxiety, I was bothered by how quickly all of her problems seemed to resolve. For the most part of Frozen, I genuinely found her to be relatable in that regard, however the speedy conclusion to that problem was not at all realistic. I understand that it's a Disney movie, thus geared towards children who don't want to see Elsa still battling with her anxiety issues at the end of the film, but that doesn't make her a good representation of what it's like.

This is just my personal opinion on the matter though-- everyone with anxiety is different, and perhaps she is a good representation for some people. Just not for me.

Good enough where apparently every 8 year old loves her and schools by the thousands start singing let it go

^ I would argue that that is more because the song is catchy and Elsa is pretty and has ice powers, not because the eight-year-olds love her representation of anxiety.

Speaking as someone with anxiety, I can say that she is a bad representation. She overcomes it too easily in the end like it's nothing, which is NOT how anxiety works. Plus, she's a bad representation because we don't get to know her very much. She makes it seem like depression and anxiety are all there is to her and we don't get to know the real her. I find it insulting that people think people with depression only have depression about them. When people talk to me, they can't even tell I have anxiety or depression, because I'm a person first and just happen to have anxiety. Just having a catchy song and kids loving her doesn't make her a good representation of people with anxiety. In fact, she's a very poor representation for not having us get to know her, not finding out what she does in her spare time (she can't just sit her her room wallowing in her suffering), and having her overcome her anxiety so easily in the end without even working hard at it. I struggle with trying to overcome my anxiety EVERYDAY of my life and it's NOT easy!

Usually little kids don't really understand issues regarding mental illnesses and such, so LupinPrincess's point is moot. I bet most kids and casual viewers just like Elsa for her song or her powers or bc she's pretty.

It's half and half for me. The scenes where she is nervous work really well, but I think the ending is just too sudden (i do think it does have a nice message, though, that mentally ill people deserve love and support and shouldn't be shunned by their families. i guess that's kinda why Anna works in the story).

As someone with anxiety issues, I found her pretty relatable, for the most part, and she takes a lot of flak for running off and not facing up to the consequences of what she's done up until the end but people don't always make rational decisions. Anaswill is right though that her anxiety just seems to disappear at the end, but maybe it will resurface during Frozen 2? (I haven't seen Frozen Fever)

I can't say whether shes' a good or bad representation -- some people will relate to her and some won't. Everyone handles their anxiety in different ways.

I don't know much about anxiety, though I suspect - based on tests I've taken and how accurately some of the presented patterns fit me - I might have it to some degree. In that case, I think Elsa is a half-and-half representation because while she does run away from her problems and shut people out, she gets over those issues way to quickly. Love might be the key, but it takes time to feel confident enough to trust on it.

I would never have guessed that's what the movie meant if someone hadn't outright told me. I've seen some people with depression or anxiety say they can't relate to her at all and I see why- she doesn't seem to have any or at least many of the symptoms.
