I think she is somewhat shy but mostly she was running away because she's "not allowed to talk to strangers". I think she stayed and danced with him because she's not that shy and she didn't seem too shy when presented to the court at the end despite it being the first time she was likely in front of that many people and in the spotlight to boot. :)

I have no idea why people think Aurora is shy in the very least! She doesn't interact with anyone besides the fairies or her animal friends to show that she's shy at all! Yes, she acts nervous around Phillip when she first meets him, but that's not her being shy, that's her knowing the concept of STANGER DANGER! I mean, when she keeps trying to break free of his grip, he just keeps on just grabbing onto her. Who wouldn't be nervous in that situation? I've yet to any legit proof that she is shy.

As you guys mentioned, she's not! If she was, she would not have dance with Philip, and secondly, she has less screen time!

Not particularly. She seems eager to meet new people, what with her complaining that her aunts never let her meet anybody. And audreygrace makes a great point about her being comfortable during her presentation at the end of the movie.

I don't see she was shy at all. She just don't allowed to speak to the strangers by the fairies.

Moreso just wary.
