I have only seen The Phantom of the Opera, but I know the story line of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. I believe Erik would be better choice. I think he could convey the right emotion for the song. While Joseph had some dark parts in his past, Erik would know the yearning and loss of a woman.
