I think she would like Ariel's spunk and longing to be in the human world, but Ariel wanted permanent change. To me there are more parallels between Cinderella's longing for the ball and Punz's longing for the lanterns because it's more like a one night, life changing event, and I think she would understand Cinderella's pain through her abuse from Lady Tremaine as well as her persistent faith. Rapunzel strongly believes in fate and destiny and Cinderella believes in faith.

Rapunzel leaving her tower turned out to be permanent, especially after Flynn/Eugene was killed by Gothel. I do see where Ariel and Rapunzel make more concrete and life-altering decisions-- while Cinderella's was one temporary, one night decision. Parties last one night, typically. They don't necessarily set the tone for all of your next decisions.

Cinderella has dreams about a better life, but hasn't acted on them yet. She decides later on, after being locked up by Tremaine, that fighting for herself with her remaining glass slipper is what she ultimately wants. But Punzie and Ariel already decided months and months, and years and years ago... that they were leaving their old lives, and moving on.

^that's not what Rapunzel decided. She said she just wants to see the lanterns and then come back. That was her original plan. Like Cinderella, she wasn't trying to change her whole life, it just ended up that way. Ariel had those intentions. But that's just one aspect.

^Okay. But I don't exactly see how that makes Cinderella and Rapunzel so similar. Gothel had to coerce Rapunzel to come back, and tell her that Flynn was not interested in her. Rapunzel says that she is not inclined to go back to Gothel, and Gothel manipulates her using Flynn. Cinderella never doubted how Prince Charming felt, and the proclamation was a direct attempt to locate her. Cinderella returned home because her Fairy Godmother's ruse would not allow her to stay longer. One situation was coercion, the other was acceptance of the magical terms of a spell.

But um, sure, whatever.

Yes, Rapunzel decides not to go back, after she is already out. Cinderella didn't HAVE that choice, she knew she would turn back into a peasant at midnight and thought the Prince wouldn't still want to be with her.

^Okay. So this makes Cinderella's and Rapunzel's situations dissimilar in my eyes. They have less in common because their circumstances don't have very many parallels/similarities. There are more parallels/similarities between Ariel, Rapunzel, and Jasmine imo.

I just think Rapunzel would find Ariel to be such an irresistible character. She would like Cinderella too, but Ariel's charm would really win her over. And she would appreciate Ariel's thirst for knowledge of the human world, and her natural curiosity.
