Don't get me wrong I absolutely looooove Cate Blanchett as the stemother. Bernadette Peters as the stepmother is the version I grew up on and I've always loved how she has these lines that are funny or passive aggressive but when she's giving a truly cruel line she gives it her all by just saying it and not grabbing Cinderella by the arm or pointing at her or even needing music playing in the background. Any time she has a really harsh line everything is [i]silent[/] and the way she says it really makes you believe she feels that way. Like when Cinderella said "If my father was alive..." and she puts on a serious face and says, "Well, he's not. Is he?" and her little speech about Cinderella being common and how her father was weak. Even now every time I hear her words I feel a pain in my chest because it's done so well and it feels so real. Also, Bernadette Peters is one of my favorite actresses
