^yeah, they were very popular in the early/mid 2000s. Granted they are pure comedy and not at all the feel-good rom com stuff they movies are (though the movies are mentioned in the books and Mia is mad they killed off her dad who is alive and well in the books, and made her and Michael break up). Granted, every character but Tina Hakim Baba (who they cut) is kind of a jerk, but that's what makes it funny.
