I just want to make it clear this pick isn't a veiled excuse to complain about people who call non Princesses a Princess. It's just curiosity as to what people's different reasoning is :)

I've heard people who feel a character who is never shown to be royal in her movie is a princess, so if there's anyone who feels that way about a character I'm interested to hear why. I've also seen people who get honestly offended that a character they like isn't called a princess (even when she isn't one) so I'm also interested in why some people feel that way, since to me if a character's good whether or not she is royal doesn't affect how good she or her movie is.
As for me, I've once or twice called Pocahontas a princess since she's a chief's daughter, so I almost picked the option 'because her title is similar' but since I usually only call the princesses who are regular princesses that I think this option is more right for me.

Again, this isn't complaining about non princesses being on this spot, I don't have a problem with people who include characters like Mulan here (since all the franchise members fit on the spot), just curiosity about what the most common reason non princesses get the title is, and especially about people who actually consider the non princesses to be royalty, not just 'princess franchise' members.

Yeah well lets face it this way. Pocahuntas isn't even a princess yet she was added on the disney franchise along with Mulan who isn't a princess either because they weren't from royality backgrounds. Also in the movie Enchanted Giselle was a maiden who falls for a prince(who is supposed to be her true love but wait there's a catch to this movie........) and she was suppose to be a princess yet she fell for an attorney named Robert and his girlfriend who isn't royality ends up with the other fella. So in my opinion I think half of the disney princesses aren't even from rich backgrounds and yes im talking about Belle as well?.

Pocahontas is from a royalty background. In my opinion she's a princess. I don't however consider Mulan one of the princesses.

Well to me the "Disney Princesses" are Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora, Ariel, Belle, Jasmine, Pocahontas, Mulan and soon Tiana and Rapunzel, because they are the official "Disney Princesses".

I consider some other Disney heroines to be princesses, because they where princesses in their movies or in their original story, such as: Faline, Nala, Megara, Kida as well as some from the sequels. But I don't consider them to be in the "Disney Princess" group.

The others already mentioned and all other leading ladies are Disney Heroines, such as Esmeralda, Alice, Giselle etc.

I consider Esmeralda and Mulan princesses.. even though I KNOW that they're not. I dunno why though.. it might just be on this spot though?

However, I dont refer to all leading women as Princesses. Like.. Wendy from Peter Pan, Alice in Wonderland, etc..

Pocahontas. She is a princess to me, though not standard royalty. But her father is the Native American equivalent of a king, so without a doubt, Pocahontas is a princess. Mulan, however, is not.

I definitely consider Pocahontas a princess. And I think Kida should be part of the franchise too.

I don't consider any kids or animals to be princesses.

And I don't really mind if heroines (not princesses) are placed in picks on here, but I don't use them in mine. I never used to put Mulan in my picks, but now I do... peer pressure I suppose :/
