I really think this is sad, don't get me wrong, but the other ones seem to tug at my heart a little more.

I think this is the most powerful moment on the list, but not the most heartbreaking. The others are just sad, but with this it's bittersweet. When I watch this ending I don't just feel sad, because there's a sense of strength about the character, I'm not just sad for her, I'm proud of her for making such a hard choice. It adds maturity and realism to the romance, that they love eachother, but not so selfishly that they forget the world around them, and somewhere in all the sadness there's something uplifting about that to me.

I totally agree with you Mermaid-Tail...it is VERY bittersweet and I think she's very strong too for making such a "grown up" decision.

Though I've always wondered, HOW was she needed there? It wasn't like she'd become the chief when her father died...and Kocoum's dead. What do they need her for? Shucking Corn? Scaling Fish? General Squaw duties? I suppose it could have been an admition of, "Everyone here, including my father, are hopeless dumbasses and I'm the only one who can possibly make sure another war doesn't break out between my simple-minded tribe and your band of invasive xenophobic misfits. They're doomed without me. DOOMED!"

this is kinda sad, but they know they're gonna see each other again, and they're not fighting against it or anything. and, there's is a small chance they meet again, if the beast/snow white died, or if ariel turned into a mermaid, there is no way of them meeting again

You know what I just realized that makes the ending of Pocahontas kind of ...i dunno..sadder? Is the fact that at the very end when they're waving goodbye, John Smith never learned Powatan word for "good-bye" only "hello/wingapoo".

Oh well I personally think that the Pocahontas scene is the most heartbreaking moment in any Disney Princess movie. I guess I'm the odd one out lol

I find it very heartbreaking too mongoose, but Ariel sacrficed EVERYTHING just to have a chance with Eric...here she realizes she'll be a mermaid forever and belong to Ursula

^ I know that but I still think Pocahontas is more heartbreaking. Granted I have only seen The Little Mermaid once. But if I didnt vote for Ariel, I'd have voted for Snow White so..

Pocahontas and John Smith knew each other for what? 3 days?! 4 at best. Most summer camp flings last longer than that. It's sad when camp is over and you have to go your seperate ways but it's not as sad as your best friend dying or being sentenced to a life of servitude. Like nanastarr said, at least you know your fling is alive and that you might one day see them again. Gad its like when teenagers say "My life is over!"....when it really isn't...it really really isn't.

John Smith did learn how to say goodbye. Pocahontas said it was "Ana" or something and it was with the same wave.

yeah he did. I wonder if that was something the writers thought was a clever detail that just ended up falling through the cracks.

And he only said that because he was trying to get into her pants.

I must be one of the very few who didn't think this was sad. Out of all of the choices (including the deleted ones), Ariel's was the only one that made me want to cry (the one still in the running). And that's saying a lot, because out of the hundreds of movies I've seen, only two have successfully made me cry (neither are Disney, so I won't mention them).

This wasn't really sad to me, neither Snow White's dead
