1. The whole "see comments" thing - in a season 2 episode, they talked about how House copied another student's paper and so he was denied a fellowship (or something like that) so that's what I mean.

Personally, I think he is just one of those people who can pick up on the subtleties. I think he just kind of gathers knowlegde too. He's a freak of nature!

I AM SOOOOOOOOOOO WITH YOU ON THAT!!!! I hate it when people ruin a perfectly crafted pick with their bad grammar/spelling. I don't allow the option anymore because it annoyed me so much. Yay for being anal! Ha ha ha!

Forgive me for sounding cynical, but being beaten as a child does not let you "define everyone". It only makes you more jaded and...well, cynical.

i believe this answer should be combined with experience as well. But I believe that when he was a child, he did go through some abuse, but problem solving of others became his way of problem solving for himself. He wants to find the answers in others because maybe the answer to his life is somewhere out there. And when he does solve a puzzle or problem, he self-reinforces so the accomplishment of finding what he is good at and solving them is the only good he can claim in his life. that is all hes ever known so learning to adapt to others accepting him is difficult but slowly seeping into him.

I think it's a combination of alot of things. His obsessive nature makes him notice little details that sometimes lead to solving a case. Books are always there (doctors use them alot...it's nearly impossible to memorize EVERYTHING) and there is his schooling. Just because he cheated during a test or a paper doesn't mean he didn't learn the material...everyone has subjects they're bad in (he cheated on a math test) and he seems like the kinda lazy type (hence the cheating on a paper).
