First of all, Happy Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanza, New Year, and all that! Welcome to Fanpop's segundo Annual Secret Santa User Guide, filled with tips to make the most out of this year's Secret Santa.
Those of you whose names are on link will receive your Secret Santa Assignment tonight at midnight Pacific Standard Time. At that time, the listahan will be closed and no madami people will added PUBLICLY. If you still want to sumali in on the fun (as I expect some people will) please message me PRIVATELY. If I have enough stragglers, I can probably work something out.
Now, whether or not you participated last taon or not, you probably want to know how this taon is gonna work. You will be ibingiay another user to find a special gift for this holiday season. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to craft something (a video, image, virtual card, icon, story, poem, etc) that you think will appeal to this user. Don't worry if it's not a user you're familiar with. Here are my tips for dealing with a user you don't know very well.
1) Look at the spots they have medalya in. If the user has added a lot to that spot, it's a very good indicator of their likes and obsessions. If it helps, theme their gift after their paborito telebisyon show, or make a slide ipakita to the music of their paborito band.
2) Look at their profile. Most people fill out what their paborito movie, music and book is in their little bista sa tagiliran square. This is similar to looking to see what spots they have medalya in.
3) Check their websites. Not everyone lists a website in their profile, and don't go stalking anyone to find out who they are on Facebook if you don't know them that well. But if they do listahan a website, or a link to their Facebook or MySpace, try checking that out, just to know what their tastes are.
So now you know what kind of tastes your assigned user has. But you still don't know how to turn that into a thoughtful gift, do you? Well, not a problem. Here is a great listahan of examples from last year.
If you want to make a video, just see what these users did:

If you are madami of an image kind of person, maybe you should learn from what these users made:

link is dazl's Secret Santa from nonames
link is johnminh's Secret Santa from sweetmonkeytoes

The lovely and amicable link was sweet enough to make me several icons last year. Take a look at a handful of them:
So are you still at a loss for something to do? Are you just no good with larawan or videos? No fear: pretty much anyone can write. If not poetry, than a mock biography. If you don't know them well enough for a biography, try having your user bituin in an adventurous short story. If you feel that's too ambitious, a basic limerick or haiku should suffice.
Basically, folks, the options are endless. The only limits are that of your imagination.
I also wanted to inform you folks about your insurance plan. Yes, you have an insurance plan. sa pamamagitan ng signing your name on that list, you are guaranteed a gift this year, if not from your assigned Secret Santa, than from the team of Secret Elves (to be assembled in January) who will pick up the slack of the failed Santas. The Secret Elves, a highly dedicated task force, will take anyone who did NOT receive a Secret Santa this taon and build gifts for them. Secret Elves insurance gifts will be made and delivered in January, but better late than never! If you are interested in being one of the Secret Elves, please message me privately.
So this is your Secret Santa Coordinator signing off, saying Merry pasko to All and to All a Good Night.
PS: pasko is the time for pag-ibig and charity, so I urge you to do good deeds this pasko and tell all of Fanpop about it on the link pader of Humanitarians.
If you're too busy to actually volunteer, maybe you're madami suited to participate in Fanpop's First Annual link. All you have to do is change your icon to include a Human Rights theme, promoting peace and pag-ibig this holiday season. Also, keep an eye out for daily Human Rights related quotes, facts, games and goodies over at the link spot.
