Of all of my peeves, this definitely bugs me the most. It's like if you're gonna pick a fight then at least have the decency to keep your original post. Don't call someone names, wait for them to fight back, and then edit your comment to subtract the insults so you can look like you didn't do anything wrong. It's just the most cowardly and kind of annoying thing to do. At least when I throw an insult I have the balls to leave it up and the respect to acknowledge that it may have not been the nicest thing to say and be up front about my snarkiness. People like that are why I have to screencap any debates, even the small ones I get into, in case they escalate and the person is puts on the victim act. It's like grow up and stop playing innocent. It's just the most annoying thing in the world to me when someone does that and then a third party person--who has no knowledge of the situation--comes in and starts chewing me out accusing me of being the only person being rude because someone just couldn't stick to the truth and hid behind the edit feature.
I know, I know, butthurt alert! The alarms are going off. Lengthy introduction rant aside I have a few reasons as to why I think people shouldn't abuse the edit button.
First and foremost, I always seen the edit button as a 'lord help me I made a typo!' button. I've always viewed it as a way to avoid embarrassing spelling and grammar mistakes you made the first time around. Not as a malicious 'mu ha ha ha, I'm gonna make this guy look like a real douche' button. I feel like it's almost abusing the edit feature to go back to an argument or an insult you typed and edit it out for the sake of making yourself look good. I'm all cool with someone taking an insult out of a comment because they decided that didn't want to offend a person after an impulsive spur of the moment anger rant. I'm also all for going back and rewording something if it came off madami offensive than you initially intended. But if your doing it just to make your opponent look bad, then isn't that kind of just weak?
Which brings me to point two. It's rather cowardly to pick a fight with someone and then back out in such a way, when things aren't looking to good for you. In real life you can't suck the words back into your mouth, so I think people should grow up and realize that the same is true on the net. While yes, the insult may be gone in a physical sense, but it may or may not still be burning in the other person's mind. Believe it or not, the person typing back to you has feelings too. I understand that arguments and debates get heated, but that's no reason to take the wimpy way out.
Point three; it is annoying as all heck when someone says something like "Liking *insert ship* is wrong and sick" and I (or anyone else) leave a such as "Making comments like that is rude and disrespectful" and then going back to the poll after a minuto or so to see that the comment now reads "I don't have anything against *insert ship* but I don't like it". And then beneath it I have two or three other users telling me to "back off" and "leave leave him/her alone because he/she didn't do anything". That is a load of bull! And the editor knows it. It's like the third party people don't have the real and full story and now you have a mess of people getting mad at you.
Not cool at all. If you're wrong, own up. Have the respect and take the initiative to say 'okay, I was wrong, we were both wrong, I'm sorry.' Don't edit your comment just to slander others or get a user mobbed and bashed.
Last but not least; honestly, depending on the situation you probably won't even have to resort to such a childish method. I personally am really forgiving and really easy to work with. It's easier to apologize or civilly talk things out with me than it is to play silly games like the 'editing game'. Believe it or not most people don't take kindly to being painted as the bad guy, it takes two to fight. I'm gonna be up front--I don't play around--if you get into a heated argument with me, I probably have it screencapped (just because this has happened to me so much. Worry not, I alisin it when the issue has passed) and I am not above posting sinabi screencap if I notice editing. I'm not going to let people make a fool of me. And I'm pretty sure there are others who do the same.
That said, it's way easier to just talk it out, unedited. Again, I can't speak for everyone, but I personally am willing to forgive and forget if you just work with me. I think that talking things out with a person you are in a conflict with is much madami sufficient than playing editing games. Just talking things out tends to revolve stuff and doesn't leave as many mapait feelings. Speaking from experience; I have gotten into some pretty heated debates, the ones who talked it out with me actually ended up on my mga kaibigan listahan where as the ones who did the editing--while I don't fight with them, there's still tension. I feel discomforted around them, even just leaving my opinion beneath them (even when it has nothing to do with them) because I feel like it might spark something up.
I've also had users apologize to me and then pull that comment editing thing (or an out right removal of all the bad things they sinabi to me) and it feels like a stab in the back. Like yeah, thanks for saying sorry, but are your really? Talk it out. Don't try to play innocent.
That's pretty much all I have for now. This has been a reoccurring issue I've seen it happen to others and myself. Yes something like this had happened again recently so this was kind of me venting. Maybe some of you agree, maybe not. Feel free to leave a comment, I'm open to discussion.

Today on June 6th, The Meebo bar was not working. Many fans could not log on and all of them thought that it was a glitch or a fail. But then, according to snakemanfan, Google shut down Meebo permanently to work on Google+. It is totally damn stupid. I know that many people use the meebo bar in order for chatting on Fanpop and other stuff, But this is just sad. Google want to dominate the whole internet. Just because Google+ is being updated just does not mean that you have to shut down the Meebo bar permanently. So today, We have to say our Final Words to the Meebo bar as it shuts down forever.
This will be a really sad thing for users who have used the Meebo Bar. I really do not know if they will replace it or bring it back, But for now, Meebo is gone, Forever. :( :( :(

NOTE: I wrote all of this on my tablet.
