I'm dismayed to see that the ranking has dropped below the 5,000 mark again, but I haven't checked it for months.

Scififan: the average user includes anyone using the site, not just registered users like us. Most people who use a site - any site - are not registered users (unless registration is required to use a site at all, such as gmail). They come, look around, then leave. Given that, six pages is pretty good. That means they're following some links, looking around a bit. Of course, it is an average taken from all results, so it could be that there's all of us (who look at scores of pages) and then a bunch of people who look at the top page and then leave.
