It was just awkward. They'd been shown as mga kaibigan for years at that point. Also, the actors found it awkward too - they've admitted it - and this showed in the performances.

After like eight seasons of being just mga kaibigan they suddenly are in pag-ibig and it´s very awkward , it worked with Chandler and Monica but Joey and Rachel seemed madami like "lets pair them and see what happens"

I kinda thought they would be hot together too. Plus it was really sweet to see Joey finally in Love!! But I think because she and Ross had the baby and everything that why people really wanted her and Ross back together. He was kinda a jerk he loved her for ever then gave up way too easy!
