I remember visiting this website once...
It was called RUMOR: Major apoy To Be Filmed In King's Landing?
Here's some stuff I remembered seeing:
Cersei: “I will burn their cities to the ground if they touch her.”
Thus spoke Cersei last season in terror and fear for her daughter Myrcella after receiving Ellaria Sand’s dead snake warning. But it’s not the first time Cersei has talked about burning stuff. She threatened to burn the Lannister house to the ground rather than allow Tywin to control Tommen. And though the show has cut much of Cersei’s plotting, let’s not forget that it was Cersei who commissions the pots of wildfire for the coming war with Stannis back in Season 2. (Warning: this post contains a few potential spoilers from
Knowing this, and knowing that Cersei has now returned to the Red Keep with a steely look of determination that suggests she’s ready for revenge, these rather alarming rumors from Ireland suggest that Cersei’s plan to burn them all might be coming sooner rather than later. This is from reddit:
..And I was walking past the main hangar and the doors were open so I had a cheeky peek in and there was a METRIC SHIT TON of gasoline/petrol. Like i’m talking 20, 20 gallon barrels filled with the stuff. So I thought about it and i’m guessing there’s either going to be a fire in the Red Keep Throne Room, (as that set is built in NI), maybe the whole Cersei going Mad King in Kings Landing will lead up to it or it’s simply being used for fuel for the crew vehicles.
Perhaps fuel for vehicles. But then add in this report from the end of last week:
From sources: Small boats seen and an on hand Fire truck (maybe for back up safety support) entering Titanic Studios in Belfast(Iron Throne)

Now there are several theories as to what this could be for. The first is a moment from the books that was skipped over last season: the burning of the Tower of the Hand. In
Cersei burns the Tower with wildfire as part of Tommen and Margaery’s wedding celebrations, as she has decided she cannot look upon it since he father was murdered there. As fun as that might be though, I think the moment for that may have passed. Margaery and Tommen are already married, and unless there’s some other celebratory thing Cersei can try and ruin with bizarre myopic behavior, I cannot see Kevan allowing it.
Other theories are more nebulous. We know that Cersei, having already gone through a traumatic walk, will now be confronted with the body of her daughter, so that’s sure to push her to the edge of her rocker. If Maggy the Frog’s prophecy (“gold will be their crowns and gold will be their shrouds”) proves true, Tommen may not survive next season, which certainly would drive Cersei completely over the edge.
So what would the fire be for? To punish Dorne? To punish Trystane? To punish the High Sparrow, Kevan and all those who are trying to hold her down? If the wildfire is to punish Dorne, would the fire in King’s Landing be an accident? If it’s to punish Tyrstane, would she murder him in the public view, or would it be staged as an accident? Or is Cersei going to start pulling (as many have theorized over the years) a Mad King Aerys and start burning people regularly while she sits upon the Iron Throne and laughs? That is, once she figures out how to get Kevan out of the way? (That is, assuming that Kevan and Grand Maester Pycelle don’t find themselves murdered in the first few episodes of next season.)
One more theory: Cersei sets a fire to the Sept of Baelor to try and kill the High Sparrow and accidentally murder Margaery while she’s at it. Would Tommen then rush in and be killed trying to save the love of his life? How mad would Cersei go if she were the one responsible for Tommen’s death?

There was a time when we wondered if Game of Thrones would ever film in Spain again after leaving...
Why be in one big major franchise when you can be in two? That seems to be the question every actor...
Have you already read all the books and/or don\'t care about spoilers? You can reveal all the spoilers in the comments with the click of a link below.
Depending on the timing of the fire (early or late in the season), the reason can be vastly different.
Early in the season, it will definitely be revenge (High Sparrow, Margaery)
Late in the season, it could be after her defeat and losing power, she decides to burn the city down, just like the Mad King.
By trying to save the city for the second time, Jaime…..
The Queen Slayer? That actually makes a lot of sense. Fits in that Maggy the Frogs prophecy and everything.
not the first time we’ve seen him stab her in the back on screen…
Love your theory for the end of the series! It links the prophetic views that dany and bran saw of the throne room destroyed with the roof caved in – maybe she sees burning everything as a last resort. that or the dragons burn everywhere.
Yeah, there’s a fire in King’s Landing. Remember Qarth? The house of the undying? Dany walked through a burned down Sept while it was snowing.
Let the speculation run rampant! I think Arya Flint is haunting the Red Keep and channels her way into Septa Unella who then lights the Sept of Baelor on fire while ringing her bell and saying Shame!. Fortunately, Arya Flint has also brought a White Walker with her and he takes a leisurely stroll through the sept extinguishing the fire as he passes to save it from total ruin! Then the White Walker touches Tommen on the face with his finger nail and he turns into a White Walker too and they take off for the Wall!
All of this will occur when Myrcellas’ body is on display before her burial but Patchface will show up out of nowhere and throw some salt water on her and she will rise from the dead only to be burned in the fire.
Cercei will then go batshit crazy and attack Dorne all by herself.
Not at all. My dad wanted to name me Grace because he was smitten with Grace Slick.
The Grace Potter version of White Rabbit is pretty awesome as well.
Yeah, I would not have lived up to the name Grace!
I meant that I was the first one to say the word “first”. You stinking baboon
I’ve not been past the studio this week so haven’t seen the barrels in question.
But last year some of the material from Snow Business was in barrels that looked like fuel drums.
I think maybe it will be the Tower of the Hand as a way to kill off Kevan and/or Tarly. I think this would be after Mycella funeral (rather than Tywin’s). Or maybe just the entire Red Keep in general?
Agree. Especially as a way to strike out at Kevan, which would put a different spin on both the burning of the Tower and dealing with Kevan.
Does cerseis comment about burning cities really apply to this if it’s KL that we’re talking about burning down? I don’t believe she meant she would scorch her own city, how much sense would that make. Sure casterly rock is technically her real home but she does reside in KL for damn near 20yrs now
Cersei and Jaime are Mad King’s children so a major amount of burning is waiting for us ahead…
I guess Tywin was just the biggest cuckold in the 7 Kingdoms.
Ummm… that’s not a “new” theory. And that’s not to speak of the validity of the theory, but, its not new.
New to me, the Tyrion being the Mad Kings’ I’ve heard before but never Jaime and Cercei…
There is actually a pretty good theory about Jaime and Cersei being Aery’s tiwns
I’ve heard this before but I need facts
I went back through WOIAF last night. It does indicate that Joanna may have been one of the Mad King’s mistresses, perhaps that is why the Queen fired her from her service, despite the fact that they had been friends since childhood. The queen could have done it to protect Joanna as well, like how Margaery tried to send Sansa to Highgarden to protect her from Joffrey.
As far as the Lannister children being secret Targaryens, Joanna was married to Tywin for 3 years before Jaime and Cersei were born and was at Casterly Rock all that time. She brought them to KL when they were six and promptly left because the king was rude to her. It was 2 years before Tyrion was born. So even if he attacked her in KL, the math doesn’t work out.
Fan to fan does what your saying have facts to back it up. I’ve only read book one because I don’t want to get caught up in the differences. I’ve read that Tyrion could be targaryen brienne of tarth also and she’s jons twin……….I don’t need to details just that there are facts to support this theory…….thanks
No facts, pure fan speculation and wishful thinking sometimes.
No that’s been disproven by twoiaf book which (interestingly) SPOILER….. in the very same chapter puts all the pieces in place indicating that Tyrion may be a royal bastard.
Unfortunately any and all woiaf information regarding Tywin, Johanna, Aerys II or his reign is subject to the unreliable narrator as it is scene through the lens of Grand Maester Pycelle (Lannister toadie) and Maester Yandel’s blind faith in the information coming out of Kings Landing or the Rock. Tywin would have gone to great lengths to protect Johanna’s honor.
Cersei on the loose! On her walkman, she’s playing ‘Firestarter’ (some minstrel’s remix, I presume)…. Hmmm? Then she hears lyrics in another song…. ‘And the flames went higher…. as they burn, burn, burn…..’. Someone spots Tyrion, in the Tower of The Hand (presumably, to grab that necklace he’d left behind)…..
SHREIK!! BURN IT! BURN IT ALL! HA-HA-HA! HA-HA-HA!
Cersei’s gonna take it out on someone or something….. There was that look as Ser Robert picked her up…… What if it gets out of control and does more damage than intended? As this is Cersei, she’ll love it even more!
Maybe daenaerys comes in at kings landing with her dragons and burn them all😉
My guess is that the Septa Unella is getting the shame bell inserted into her rear end by the Mountain, and she is being rung over a huge bonfire, while Cersi keeps repeating “Shame, shame”!
Arent some of Dany’s visions (the ones in the show) located in a burnt KL throne room with snow falling? Cant remember which season.
Doran decides to stop sending Dornish wine to Kings Landing…
However, just looking at the birthdays and locations of Joanna pretty much makes the Lannisters = Targaryens not seem feasible.
I bet that would push Cersei over the edge.
I don’t think Cersei will burn down King’s Landing. If you remember Bran’s vision at the weirwood tree, he sees the shadow of a dragon flying over KL and the city was clearly not burned down. However, I’m hoping they incorporate
burning down the Tower of the Hand and I hope Littlefinger has something to do with Kevan & Pycelle’s deaths since Varys won’t be doing it.
We don’t know that’s a vision of the future- it could also be the past when dragons were still around.
Good observation. I wonder if D&D will stay true with that detail tho
I guess that this will be used in the flashback when the Mad King is burning the city…
You are right, for some reason when I read I envisioned the city partially burning with the Mad King wanting to totally incinerate Kings Landing. But I guess the city was not in flames, just had Dragon’s fire throughout the city.
Jaime tells Brienne about the Mad Kings plot to burn the city in like episode 5 of season 3 in their hot tub scene.
I guess my crazy notion that season 6 ends with the wall collapsing and King’s Landing burning isn’t so crazy after all.
I’m personally hoping that fire in the red keep is a vision of the past that Bran has. Would love to see a quick series of visions starting with the reported young Nedd, all the way to Jon’s birth and the slaying of the Mad King (Ian McShane). All narrated by Max Von Sydow as he passes the knowledge to Bran, his successor. That would be most epic and would make me very happy that I stuck around to see it.
Or perhaps it is a flashback to the deaths of Brandon and Rickard Stark……..
I remember back in season 2 when daenarys was at the house of undying going through dreams and visions and she was at the kings landing throne room and it looked burnt out and partially destroyed, maybe that was a vision in the future.
It could be even dragon fire on kings landing, from the vision that bran has with a dragon flying over kings landing.
Perhaps those “fuel” barrels are filled with rum to bait Jack Sparrow into a siege at KL!
I’ve always suspected that Dany or Cersei or even fAegon will accidentally burn down the Red Keep and most of Kings Landing, in the way that the Mad King meant for the former Hand of the King Wisdom Rossart to do. There are still many cashes of Wildfire yet to be discovered, the original guild worked secretly on this project, hiding the information from even their own acolytes. The wildfire is left in places the new pyromancers wouldn’t know or think to look. Either dragon fire or defensive wildfire is eventually going to set off the intended chain reaction and finish what Aerys and Rossart started. The only reason it didn’t happen during Cersei’s burning of the tower of the hand, IMHO, is that Wisdom Rossart was the King’s hand and almost certainly living in the tower of the hand. One would think that he wouldn’t have built a wildfire cache directly under his bed. That and the burning was done in controlled manner by the guild. Wildfire saved Cersei once but without Tyrion the voice of reason on hand, she’ll look to wildfire to save her once again and arm the catapults as she originally planned. Kings Landing is most certainly doomed but not necessarily by dragon fire.
Cersei did hope to be the bride of a dragon, once. Didn’t she have her eyes set on Rhaegar? That’s what she was asking Maggy The Frog about, wasn’t it? What’s the next best thing to becoming a dragon? Becoming the Mad Queen does not sound so illogical. Hasn’t Cersei been exhibiting signs of going into some state of madness, for some while now?
Cersei’s going to feel more endangered when she finds out about Myrcella. Tommen is skating on thin ice, due to all that’s been said about his parentage. Kevan’s likely to suggest strongly that Cersei leaves for Casterly Rock, to have time to reflect on everything and grieve. Maybe, if she does burn the Tower of The Hand, it’s to warn Kevan off, and attempt to stop him from sending her back to Casterly Rock. The likely chance of such a fire getting out of control is probably high, due to the nature of how KL’s been built over the many years since Aegon (The Conqueror) founded it.
Bran’s vision could’ve been from any point in time, past, present or future. There could be something symbolic in it too, like Dragons will always cast their shadow over the city one of them founded.
Cersei The Mad Oueen… Brilliant! Wassell I like the fact you improvised your theory from what has happen on the show thus far, not necessarily Cersei’s character in the books. It’s a fresh perspective!
Cersei has probably been unhinged for a long, long time. Mother of madness indeed. I can see Tommen going mad himself as his good nature probably can’t take all these revelations. If something happens which makes it clear that his bride doesn’t really care for him, that would be a last straw.
I doubt very much that Dany burns down the Red Keep. I think her dream was a foreshadowing that by the time she gets there, the throne will be irrelevant: the wall will be her destination.
Even so, I think the wall comes down very, very soon. Not the end of 6, maybe the middle.
But part of that vision has to do with me wanting the story to get going already.
My guess is Cersei will burn King’s Landing, perhaps after finding Tommen dead by suicide or what not, he was under a LOT of presure and when Jaime arrives and tells her Marcella is dead also. Jaime, being born seconds later, may fulfill the prophecy and kill his ‘technically older’ twin sister.
I think it would be a great twist if Kings Landing burnt to the ground at any point in the series. It would truly shatter the kingdoms back into 7 realms and redefine what it means to rule in Westeros. How does one even become king without that ancient symbol of power, I hope it does happen, it would redefine the game.
Cersei might just burn it just to get revenge for the way she was treated on her walk.
i guess there should be some leftovers from the firebombs used at the blackwater battle… maybe they´ll come into use… tyrion stated there would be enough to burn down kings landing
