As revealed in the May finale, new cardio boss Margaret “Maggie” Pierce (played by Kelly McCreary) is the daughter of Ellis Grey and onetime lover Richard Weber.

Also in the Season 11 premiere slideshow, happy-ish times (for now) for Callie and Arizona, Owen’s running around and April doesn’t seem to be showing (just yet).

I almost had mistaken Jerrika (Edwards) for the new half-sis… they both have almost the same hair-do! Looking forward to the premiere of the season 11!

I like Kelly since she was on Emily Owens. I’m really looking forward to seeing her as Meredith’s sister. After 10 seasons, Shonda can still manage to keep a ace up her sleeve. However, still don’t like Stephanie. I think she tries to be too cute and she isn’t. She’s not as funny as she seems to think she is. And to make things worse now, she looks like Kelly, who is meant to be a major player and that renders Stephanie completely redundant. I still cannot see Arizona near a large coffee cup without cringing. And, please, say there’s no Owen/Amelia pairing in the future. Owen needs to honor his relationship with Cristina and be alone for at least a year.

What happened to Mer’s other half sisters? When the stepmother died from hiccups didn’t they show 3 half sisters (Lexie & her full sisters)?

Meredith has no full-blooded related sister. She’s the only child of Ellis and Thatcher.

She had Lexie and had Molly (I say had for both because Lexie is dead and it appears Meredith wants nothing to do with Molly) from her paternal side of the family AKA Thatcher (and his late wife Susan).

The new sister Margaret is the daughter to Ellis and Richard as a result of a long affair.

Meredith only has these half siblings in her life and I can see this reunion either going really good or really bad. Which, knowing Meredith Grey and her life, I do imagine bad.

Lexie’/s sister is Molly who is overseas with her military husband. She only appeared one time when Thatcher came to the hospital to tell Meredith he didn’t want her at Susan’s funeral.

My bad. Totally forgot about her baby being born at SG and her telling Mer all about how great her dad was. I guess she was on for three or four total episodes. It was never shown that she knew who Meredith was.

I don’t understand why we need a half sister. We had Lexi. We loved Lexi. Wouldn’t people have KNOWN that Richard and Ellis had a child? Did they cover that in previous seasons that I’ve just overlooked? This just feels like a storyline that is forced…oops we killed Mer’s sister and then her best friend took off…darn it…add a new sister then. Oh yeah! Richard had an affair with Ellis…sweet…she got pregnant and hid it from everyone? Really? *sigh*

I think Shonda said there were nuggets about the half sister planted over the seasons. They just didn’t know when they were going to spring it… And now seemed like the time.

I hope her paternity is revealed nice and early in the season to both Meredith and Maggie also learns that Richard is her biological father the latest by the second episode and not drag it out all season long or make it a midseason finale cliffhanger.

If this episode is supposed to take place about 24 hours after the finale, then why would April be showing yet? I know in TV land women tend to look about 6 months pregnant the day after finding out, but it really would be stretching the boundaries of “reality.”
