Let’s Debate!

I’m a tagahanga of both. There are parts of Twilight I don’t like though. For example: I didn’t like how Bella tossed Jacob aside when Edward came back to her. After all Jacob and Bella had been through, she pretty much used him. I didn’t think that was right, and to put it in a book. Aren’t we supposed to look up to these characters as role models? I don’t respect Bella for that at all. She’s a very selfish character.

I respect all the characters in Harry Potter, well the good ones anyway, I really don’t like the evil guys!

But at the end of the day, they’re both different stories.

I like Harry Potter. I thought the depth, detail, and plotline that JK went into were phenomenal. The characters developed and did so in a believable way. They all had motivations and backgrounds, not just the main character. They were all three dimensional, no one was one way. Voldemort was not evil simply because he was evil, there was a whole back story to him.

The romantic pag-ibig was realistic, it was not based on looks or smell. It took time, years for some characters, and, in other's, like Snape and Sirius, it never happened.

The platonic pag-ibig was realistic as well. Mother's sacrificed their lives for their children, children stuck sa pamamagitan ng their parents and were proud of what their parents had endured. The family ties were strong, never breaking, and, again, were realistic.

It wasn't predictable. Sure, there were somethings you knew were going to happen, but you didn't know the entire book after the first three chapters.

The bad guys were scary. Voldemort raised a whole army, then sent it out to maim, torture and kill people. He killed children, tried to kill children, considered muggles to be no better than slaves (there was even a thrown created out of their bodies in DH). They discriminated and were feared.

People's stories were relatable. I don't mean the whole, "magic" aspect. I meant the rest. Harry was neglected as a child, ridiculed and, often ostracized as a teenager. Hermione was made fun of for not being a "pureblood" and for being "an insufferable know it all." Ron lived under the shadow of his older siblings, rarely ever having the limelight. Sirius was wrongly accused and punished for something he didn't do. Remus was discriminated against for something done to him that he couldn't control. Severus loved his best friend for his whole life, only to make one mistake and loose her to the man he despised. He was made fun of, and also neglected as a child. Dumbledore made a mistake that, not only haunted him for the rest of his life, but completely changed his view on the way he was living his life.

I've heard reasons why people don't want to read Harry Potter because of the length of the books, That's just silly. Twilight is about 500+ pages in every book and people still read that over Harry Potter. Harry Potter's length in pages increased over the series. The first book was just a little over 300 pages and then got bigger as the new books came out.
Also I think Harry Potter's got a better message then twilight because all twilight is telling you is, "Love a person no matter if he's a werewolf or an ice-cold vampire." Harry Potter tells you madami than one message and also gives you life lessons. Like, "Death isn't the worst thing that can happen to you." and stuff like that.

Ok, I used to be a Twilight fan, but Breaking Dawn turned me anti. I don't like Twilight because the characters never develope. Bella is, in my opinion, a blank canvas. All we know is that she 'loves' Edward, even though he was a total jerk to her, she's 'stubborn', even though she does whatever Edward says, and she's clumsy, which we almost never see in Breaking Dawn.
There is no death whatsoever in the books. Death is something we all go through and have to face. People say Twilight is madami realistic, but I don't think so. The only deaths we see are from the 'bad' guys, who actually had a reason to kill Bella. At least Victoria did. There was Irina, but never get to learn about her. Her name is just thrown out there. Which brings me to character backgrounds.
We learn about some of their backgrounds, like Jasper, who was in the Civil War. But, why did Carlisle want to drink animal blood? Why not drink human blood? Why didn't he stay with the Volturi? Then there's the rest of them. Rosalie: Why did she stay with Carlisle? She could've been on her own. Then there's the Volturi's history, Denali Coven history, etc. Meyer leaves a lot of tanong walang sagot and makes you wonder. It's not a bad thing, but she made me wonder a bit too much.
Bella's Family: Bella never really shows interest in them. She immediately says her mom is scatterbrained. That's pretty mean, at least to me. My mom can be over the tuktok too, but I wouldn't call her that. Then there's Charlie. All she does is cook and clean for him. She does this to keep him out of the way and out of her life. She doesn't even get to know him.
pag-ibig Life: Bella sees Edward one araw at lunch, and she thinks he's hot. Ok, been there, done that... SHe immediately becomes upset when he tries to transfer to a different class. Ok, that would be upsetting.... Bella than ponders that araw and is upset when he doesn't ipakita up. You're losing me.... Bella tries to be cold towards Edward when he comes back but can't. You Nawawala me. She likes him now? He was a total asno to her, and suddenly she likes him?! I can't relate to that.
Relating to Twilight:
-I liked a guy.
-I thought he was hot.
-He was a jerk.
-I have guy friends.
That's about it. No one tried to rape/kill me. My parents aren't divorce. I never loved a vampire/werewolf or pag-ibig two guys at the same time.

I have loved harry potter for 12 years now. I have read Twilight and I loved it for some time. Then I started to see some unhealthy aspects of it. And when I went to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter Grand Opening, it just smashed Twilight out of my world when I was brought back to my childhood.

So yes. I have loved both, and have Nawawala interest in one (that being Twilight).

I just find that harry potter is written better and JK Rowling deserves the fame she has. She went from rags to riches. And I respect her for everything she's gone through and done. And she's modest. Which is a great trait. Stephenie on the other hand is the opposite for the most part.

But on the book side (back to morals). Harry Potter teaches you about life. About friends, life, death, choice, forgiving, good vs evil (it actually opened good vs evil into a new light. Where there wasn't a solid line. Where it shows how good becomes evil. Why good becomes evil. There was always a catalyst for why an evil character went down the path they did to the point where you even had to pag-ibig Voldemort as a character!) Twilight didn't do that. It wasn't well put together.

Plus, Harry Potter has a world that is too... magical. Where you just wish you could slip into the book. Drink a butterbeer with mga kaibigan while playing with Wizard Weasley Wheezes and complaining about Snape. It's something that's right at your fingertips, but you can never fully touch. And I pag-ibig how the world is like. Where you fully enter it when you can close your eyes and dream. It makes you believe in magic.

And feminism. Hermione has always been that fictional role model. She's intelligent, strong, brave, loyal, and helpful. Bella is described int eh same way, but Stephenie never SHOWS how Bella is like that. Right off the bat, you learn Hermione is intelligent because even though she's a Muggleborn, she knows all the sagot in the class. She's the first to raise her hand and rattles sagot off. She sticks up for the people who humiliated her for the first weeks of term and befriends them. She sticks sa pamamagitan ng them even when they're about to die.

Then there is Tonks, a young female auror who stands up to Mad-Eye. NO ONE does that, yet she does. That's actually the first thing you see her do, is backtalk to Mad-Eye.

Those a few reasons why I pag-ibig Harry Potter.

The reason I like Twilight, isn’t just for the Romance aspect of it. It has a great story, as does Harry Potter. But, Twilight is different than your typical Vampire pag-ibig story, it has challenge’s the main characters have to face. The story and the characters have a lot of depth!

*shrug* Okay. But I still hate Twilight. :P

I pag-ibig both, but I have to say I'm madami Harry Potter.
I'm way madami obsessed with twilight, I read & watched the books/ pelikula a million times. But Harry Potter was first, I didn't read every book, but I grown up with it. Harry & Hogwarts is & will ever be a part of my childhood. Something I will always remeber <3

Certainly you can't compare it with each other. Harry Potter is about friendship, magic & to bring down the evil. Twilight is about finding the true pag-ibig & if you finally found it >> HOLD IT!
And one in all, I think Twilight is a lil bit faking. I'm not talking about the story, gosh no Steph did an awesome job, as well as Rowling! I'm talking about the merchandise and stuff and this hole hype...

PS: About that hole Team Jacob/ Team Edward thing... I'm Team Jacob, Edward left cuz he was selfish, just that he could feel better! He didn't... so that's why he wanted to die not becuz he thought Bella died too. Okay what I wanna to say have nothing to do with the Team thing... I guess... (WoW I'm weird... LoL) I think Jacob was just in pag-ibig with Bella, or he thought that he is, becuz of Nessie. A part of her was always in Bella so he thought he is in pag-ibig with her...just wanted to say! xD

So what's the point? i pag-ibig Twilight. So what? you can't change it. Okay? Why?

Meyer's imagination for me is unusual. A pag-ibig tatsulok is complicated. Made madami complicated sa pamamagitan ng adding those mga asong lobo and vampires.
I've watched Harry Potter pelikula up yo 4 and its beautiful. I'm 50-50 for Harry Potter and Twilight. So I defend any of these who needed reason.

I appreciate the attempt, but I've done nothing BUT pagtatalo on this spot! And I'm tired! I'm going to take a nap!

im all 4 harry potter! u may notice that i have twilight icons on my bista sa tagiliran but that is just because i like the movie.But I hATE THe BOOK.HP is much madami interesting and the characters are sublime while in Twilight they're all mix together and honestly does anyone remember the name of that town???Furthermore whats up with the glowing vampires?And Bella is simply pathetic................

My answer, may not be interesting.
But I am on Twilights side.
Of a matter of fact, I have seen the Harry Potter books, as my brother, as a younger child, loved HP. But earlier today I asked him the question:
"Big Debate, hey, Harry Potter or Twilight?"
And he sinabi "Twilight, yes, I like Harry Potter,but as a variety of oppnions, mine is
heading to Twilight."
So.
I obviously have nothing against HP fans. As if
my brother had sinabi "Harry Potter."
I wouldn't hate him.
So, my opinion, and I don't want to be shot back
sa pamamagitan ng loads of people saying.
"You're just being un- reasonable!"
Because, I'd like you to see me when I am un-resonable.
