What was the point in making Bampira SPARKLE? How was it related to the story?

I agree, I think the sparkling was a stupid idea. However, that isn't because "sparkles are gay" or "sparkles are for wusses" or "sparkles are for fairies" or "vampires don't sparkle". There IS, in fact, a real reason for it, and it does pertain to what I think was SMeyer's reason for making the Bampira sparkle.

What is the one greatest weakness of a vampire? The sun. It is one of their greatest obstacles. SMeyer, however, took this away. She is purposely giving her Bampira no obstacles in her attempt to make them "perfect". However, any writer,and MOST people who don't write, know that characters should have obstacles. That is what makes a story interesting! What are Edward's obstacles? Oh, right, there are none. Another reason why he fails as a character. (No, trying to avoid eating Bella does not count because he doesn't have to try that hard. If he can halik her as much as he does, hang around her as much as he does, spend hours watching her sleep, then resisting her blood cannot be nearly as hard as SMeyer wishes her readers to believe it is).

I believe that when people write they have the right to tell thier story as they choose, make thier characters the way they want.
S. Meyer chose rock hard bodies for her Bampira and in keeping with the characteristics of rock, namely marble, she twisted a legend about Bampira and sunlight to turn it into something new and unusual.
If you read as many vampire novels as I do, you'd see that it would get pretty repetetive if writers didn't add thier own edge of imagination to every legend. The sparkles just happen to be S. Meyers new look on vampires.

well, maybe Smeyer wanted to make her own Bampira unique sa pamamagitan ng sparkling in the sun rather than the old-legends of Bampira not being able to ipakita themeselves when it was sunlight.
And...possibly she thought that with the help of the 'sparkly-stuff'

It made her book serie sound like it wasn't taken seriously.

I'm guessing it was madami for visual effects than anything else. Not only he is perfect and beautiful, he also sparkles! You can't do better than that in the looks department! /sarcasm

Even though I am a Twilight fan, I will never be able to defend the sparkling. So, so stupid. Bampira need weaknesses, Stephanie.

I agree, even Hank Green has stated you can write a book about Bampira but you should not completely change the history and legends behind them. I honestly used to think Bampira were almost half as cool as wizards, but thanks to Stephanie Meyer, that is no longer true.

Yeah i know what is the point i just find Twilight far to cheesy the film you should be watching is Harry Potter such a great film and they spend madami time making the films i pag-ibig all the effects and its not cheesy

There isn't a reason. Just like there isn't a reson why Stephenie Meyer created Edward and Bella and this story!
Look, this whole Universe came to her as a dream, and she saw Edward and Bella laying in the meadow, and he was sparkling. Don't ask me why or how, but she knew he was a vampire, it was a FACT, and that she knew they were in love.
I don't think the sparkling sucks, I think it's just different, but I was never a hige tagahanga of Bampira anyway (I pag-ibig Lupin!!) so it didn't bother me that they were so different from the traditional vampires. I don't understand what's the fuss about, she has all the right to create her own World, just like you guys have the right not to like it.

I don't know , maybe S.Meyer thought that sparkling is hot , or she wanted to use every aspect of her dream.
