Note: I did not write this, I found it off a website, and I don't want to offend anyone with it :)

Harry Potter may-akda J.K Rowling has reportedly turned down the chance to present an award at this year's Oscars ceremony. She claims she is too busy Pagsulat to attend the bituin studded event, where she was offered the opportunity to present an award with Twilight may-akda Stephenie Meyer. On J.K Rowling's official website, she is quoted as saying that Pagsulat is her main priority at the moment....but I can't help but wonder if it was Stephenie Meyer who was the reason behind her refusal.

Stephenie Meyer has been undeniably successful with the Twilight series about a teenage girl who falls in pag-ibig with a vampire. However, between Stephenie Meyer and J.K Rowling, there is a severe imbalance of talent. Ms. Rowling created a whole new world based on mythology, magic and her own imagination. Ms. Meyer wrote a typical high school story based on the popularity of vampires.

The characters in the Harry Potter world are compelling, interesting and real. In Twilight everyone is overly perfect except for the main character who continually whines about her looks and mopes around waiting for her man.

Let's break it down.

Harry Potter

The pangkalahatang moral of the Harry Potter series is the understanding that it is our choices, not our abilities that shape who we become. J.K Rowling tells a story of a young boy forced to grow up too soon and along the way he learns the value of friendships, the importance of doing the right thing no matter how hard and he makes a lot of mistakes on the way. He suffers loss, faces challenges and tough choices and learns some heart-breaking things. While it is set in a pantasiya world of magic, the characters are very much grounded in reality.

Twilight

If Twilight has a moral, I am at a loss for what it is. Average teenage girl has a crush on a perfect looking guy. Perfect looking guy notices average teenage girl and falls in pag-ibig with her. Perfect looking guy turns out to be a vampire, and in order not to eat her, disappears with his family. Read about a million pages of her whining and moping, then enter good looking guy number two who is a werewolf. What follows is a long line of teenage girl "accidentally" stringing along the werewolf until her vampire pag-ibig returns. None of this was totally unbearable until the last book. In spite of a huge lead up to some things which should have resulted in chaos, drama and excitement, nothing happened. Everything worked out without even a tiny bit of upset which leads, in my opinion, to a very shallow novel.

There is no contest. Harry Potter has depth, intrigue, excitement and thought provoking characters. J.K Rowling has written a phenomenal tale that will continue to be discussed and analysed for many years.

Twilight has a very weak leading character and gives out the belief that all women want to get married, crank out kids and live in a pretty cottage in the woods. I think Stephenie Meyer's world will quickly be forgotten when the hype fizzles out.

This is merely speculation and opinion of course, but if I were in J.K Rowling's position I'm not sure I would want any association with Stephenie Meyer, even if it was just at an awards ceremony.

I have read a lot of artikulo etc like this, but I thought I would write m own nakakita down.

One thing I have heard about Twilight being better is that SMeyer is a better writer. I ask you, how on earth is SMeyer a better writer.

Take this sentence from New Moon:

'Suddenly, it(the bike) looked intimidating, frightening, as I realised I would soon be astride it.'

How does that flow as a sentence? It has two separate realisations together in one sentence. I found it awkward to read.

SMeyer doesn’t make us connect with her characters. She doesn’t describe their feeling well at all. She is not a good...

So I surfing the web when I ran into one of the pages from this site. It was a tanong asking which would you rather be, a vampire or a wizard? I immediately answered wizard and I added 3 quick reasons why. That was several months nakaraan and now I wondered if my answer was reasonable enough. I also read other people's reason and I admit some of them sounded very childish and naive.

Now I will start sa pamamagitan ng defining the two sa pamamagitan ng their origins. Bampira and wizards, because that was the question. Not Twilight Bampira or HP Wizards, but since that poll was under those topics I'm guessing I will talk...

My tanong is Is anyone alse tired of this "HP vs Twilight" things??
Because it is driving me crazy..

First of all I need to say I pag-ibig THEM BOTH so much!! I think HP was extremely original I grew up with it and I looove it.. and Twilight is so romantic, I mean, could they be madami crazy about each other?? (NOPE!!), and I looove it too!! (L) =]

However one thing is true:
Most twilight fans ARE crazy, annoying, funny, scary, etc.. being one I talked to many and some were really funny (they actually believed they were going to marry Edward) and others really scared me (because I loved HP too they...

Luna looked back and shouted, “EXPELLIARMUS!”
The Death Eater’s wand flew out of his hand.
“Nice shot!” Neville said, looking at her impressed. Luna beamed brightly, as the two continued to run. They both slowed as they neared a room filled with smoke. Neville ran in first and Luna followed close behind. They heard shouts coming from every direction.
“CRUCIO!” There was a scream of agony.
“STUPEFY!”
“AVADA KEDAVRA!”
The last spell seemed closer and both ducked at the same time. They heard a thud as a body hit the floor. Luna ran over there, despite the spells flying everywhere....

People are passionate about defending their books that they love. I know that and I’ve done it. What’s really disturbing is when the users of Fanpop use this site to bring people down or just to openly hate.

Harry Potter and Twilight are going to be compared. No other two books have the same rabid following and they both have strong roots in the supernatural. I welcome pagtatalo and exchanging of opinions, when it’s friendly. Some of the comments I’ve seen on these forums could not be called friendly debate. It just makes me sick when I know that there are people out there that are willing...

Taking arms against Harry Potter, at this moment, is to emulate Hamlet taking arms against a sea of troubles. sa pamamagitan ng opposing the sea, you won't end it. The Harry Potter epiphenomenon will go on, doubtless for some time, as J. R. R. Tolkien did, and then wane.

The official newspaper of our dominant counter-culture, The New York Times, has been startled sa pamamagitan ng the Potter books into establishing a new policy for its not very literate book review. Rather than crowd out the Grishams, Clancys, Crichtons, Kings, and other vastly popular prose fictions on its fiction bestseller list, the Potter volumes will...
