"We've all got both light and dark inside of us. What matters is the part we choose to act on. That's who we really are."
-Sirius Black

So...Malcolm X chooses to kill a person this year, and according to Sirius it is who Malcolm X REALLY is. And when Malcom X later genuinely regrets the kill and chooses to save a life susunod year, according to Sirius it also is who Malcolm X REALLY is. No, wait...What? Decide already, Sirius! Is Malcolm's true self light or dark, is he really a good guy or a bad guy?! What about his feelings during and right after the killing? Do those not matter at all for the person he really is?

As in, I don't fully agree with Sirius.

1. Yes, we've all got both light and dark inside of us and what matters is which part we choose to act on.

2. Yes, our choices make us who we are.

3. But who we REALLY are, does not that simply walk hand in hand with our choices between dark and light.

---> The choices we make is part of who we are, but we still have a chance to ipakita who we REALLY are. After all, our choices depend on the point of view from which we look at a matter. While finding our personal, finished view of the world and values is a long process and usually even the base of it isn't set before early adult years.

This falls under the fact that people can change but no one ever changes thorhoughly. Reaction is much madami genuine part of you than a choice you make. That's why it tells madami about your true self than the choice you made. Of course everything ends into a choice, so it matters too. Point being: Malclm X might choose to do bad things - that's who he is. But who he REALLY is, is shown sa pamamagitan ng his reactions to the consequences of his choice, and sa pamamagitan ng what those reactions make him choose next.

But Sirius' statement labels every choice at all times as a sign of who one REALLY is, and hence the above I think that's black-and-white thinking and thus doesn't hold water.

---> Mental illness. People may do bad things when mentally ill, but I think it unfair to label them as REALLY the kind of persons they act like. If they really were, they'd been born like that instead of choosing to do them later in life due to circumstances breaking them. And there'd be no sense in trying to help and cure them but professional helpers do try.

Sirius' statement does not seem to regard this at all.

........

I think Sirius' thinking is rather black-and-white and the quote a bit over-rated.

I think the problem is that some of this series' bayani and villains are rather...one-dimensional? One-dimensional may be the wrong word choice but I mean how Sirius, Harry and Hermione (for a few examples) were always the perfect Gryffindors who were never tempted sa pamamagitan ng their dark side, Peter Pettigrew was the cowardly black tupa of Gryffindor who apparently couldn't get a grasp on to the light inside him, and Voldemort was the psychopath with no empathy or abiluty to understand love. The light in him never had the chance to win in the first place.

Perhaps Sirius' statement isn't Rowling's own opinion but Sirius' because of how he himself was and how Peter Pettigrew was? I'm pretty sure he first and foremost formed his view upon what happened to the Marauders and particularly between himself and Wormtail, and how opposite personalities he and Peter were.

I think good examples of my point number 3 and why I partially disagree with Sirius, are characters like Albus Dumbledore and Barty Crouch Jr.

Young Albus Dumbledore took part in bad things and values - because he was in pag-ibig with a wizard who practiced dark magic. I don't remember exactly how far their dark plans went in practical level before Albus turned away, but the point is he did act on his dark side. Maybe not purely as it was supposedly "for the greater good", but still, he saw it included dark and illegal things yet chose to take part. Yet pagganap on that side was not who he really was. In the end he showed his true self sa pamamagitan ng fighting Grindelwald and regretting his former beliefs and plans, and sa pamamagitan ng turning into the wise old man we know him as.

We don't know much about young Barty Crouch Jr. but we do know this:
- He chose the path of a Death Eater, a servant of the current Dark Lord.
- He may or may not have tortured two people into madness.
- Rowling put much weight on the thought that he did not torture them.
- He showed fear and desperation in the trial.
- He believed Voldemort was alive.
- Yet he Nawawala his will to live as in was dying within a taon in Azkaban.

The three last mentioned reveal that even though he chose to act on his dark side, it wasn't who he REALLY was. Because the person who he really was, naturally showed in the inhumane circumstances of Azkaban prison. He was not able to madala Azkaban. If he really was a cold-blooded torturer-murderer who belonged to the dark side, he should've been able to take it instead of about to die within a year. Darkness doesn't suffer and die in darkness. Light does. Devoted servants of evil don't die in evil places. People to whom something else matters more, do die in evil places. Young Barty Crouch Jr. chose to act on the darkness inside him but it wasn't who he REALLY was.

He never got the chance to act on his light part again because of the trial breaking his puso and killing his faith in his loved ones (and so his puso grew back twisted), and the taon in Azkaban and 12 madami under Imperius Curse made him mentally ill. Thus, naturally his choices that folloed, were not who he REALLY was. It was just what he had become because of his mental state being horribly damaged for 13 years. Seeing to his original self, changing circumstances could've changed him too, back towards his truer self. Nowhere near all the way back because of the damage in his mind, but still. Too bad Rowling killed him off immediately after revealing the basis of his wonderful character development.

My brother Mikael once sinabi something I think was quite wisely said:
"Thinking in black-and-white is dishonesty towards life."

According to the books there are supposed to be 700 Quidditch fouls. However I'll mention sortly 10 of the commonest ones, with the help of Harry Potter wiki.=)

1.Blagging
An often-used foul which can be commited sa pamamagitan ng all the players of a team. It is consisted of grabbing the broomstick tail of a player from the opposing team in order to delay or thwart them. We see it in the "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of the Azkaban" book, commited sa pamamagitan ng Draco Malfoy against Harry Potter.

2.Blatching
In order to happen, a player has to fly towards another player with deliberate intention to collide with him or...

I stumbled over a discussion pagtitip. topic "JKR: Canon or fanon" on another HP site and I have ended up into debates related to the topic, so I decided to write this opinion artikulo - this isn't about anyone or anything in particular about the books regardless of the examples. The point in them is for the general matters (:

"What all is canon to you? What do you personally keep, tweak or disregard in your head?"

To me...

Canon is the author's image. This of course means also whatever she announces anywhere outside the books, is canon. She wrote her view into the books's content and it's bound to...

I found this kinda interesting, it just some things that may have been missed in the books:

The Mirror of Erised: Erised is Desire spelled backward, or how it would appear in a mirror. Also, the inscription reads "Erised stra ehru oyt ube cafru oyt on wohsi," which read in a mirror reads, "I ipakita not your face but your hearts desire."

"Don't mess with me, Peeves, now where did they go?"
"Shan't say nothing if you don't say please," sinabi Peeves in his annoying singsong voice.

Then, as you know, they turn around to face Fluffy who is glaring at them and about to attack. They were inside that...

If you are pagbaba this letter then you have doubtless been accepted into the select band of professional wizards known as the Death Eaters. If sa pamamagitan ng some unprecedented chance you are pagbaba this and you have not been accepted into the Death Eaters then I suggest you put down this letter and leave now, or the consequences for you will be as terrible as my lifelong study into the Dark Arts can make them.

Please find enclosed a short introductory guide to Death Eating, which you must memorize and then eat, to prevent security leaks. (Due to an unfortunate fatality last week,...

The Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince film continues to perform phenomenally well at the box office, for the sixth film came in first place in box office takings for the UK and Ireland this past weekend. The BBC reports that the film grossed 33 million pounds this past weekend, beating out the Sandra Bullock film The Proposal, and becoming "the biggest UK box office success of the taon so far."

A ulat is also online from ScreenDaily noting that the sixth Potter film has grossed an impressive $405.3 million in its release, helping push gross Warner Bros. international box office takings...

Lately, through picks and forums I have noticed that a lot of people prefer the Cho/Harry pairing over the Ginny/Harry pairing. They have provided some pretty good reasons as to why they like Cho and Harry but I don't know... something about them just seems off. Don't take this the wrong way, I am not a Cho "hater" and I have no problem with Cho/Harry shippers. I just wanted to take some time and explain my reasoning...

1) Sure, Harry got mga paru-paro in his stomach when her saw Cho[ Before Sirius' death] but after every petsa they had together Harry always ended up madami miserable than he already...

Godric's Hollow is a village of great interest. There Harry's problems start after Voldemort kills his parents. But let's find some madami things about it! This is the part of History of Magic sa pamamagitan ng Batilda Bagshot, which talks about it.

(harry potter and the deathly hollows, p261):
"Upon the signature of the International Statute of Secrecy in 1689, wizards went into hiding for good. It was natural, perhaps, that they formed their owns small communities within a community. Many small villages and hamlets attracted several magical families, who banded together for mutual support and protection. The...

I had a thought...

I'm sure I'm not the only one who is wondering how on earth Harry, Ron and Hermione could destroy all those horcruxes when Dumbledore, one of the greatest wizards ever almost died trying to destroy two of them.

And since Dumbledore and Harry really aren't the only ones who know about Voldemort's horcruxes, its possible that RAB has actually done the work for them without Voldemort realising it. Its possible that he actually destroyed all the horcruxes besides Nagini but somehow didn't live to tell anyone.

So the only horcrux that they would have to destroy would be the snake. Remember Voldemort only made Nagini a horcrux in Goblet of Fire. So she is at least one horcrux left that we know still exists.

I can't see Harry, Ron and Hermione managing to destroy 4 horcruxes without one of them dying or getting seriously injured. That could happen too however...

CAN'T WAIT TILL IT COMES OUT! 5 DAYS TO GO!
I pag-ibig Hermione, Harry, Luna, Ron, Hagrid, Snape, Dobby and more. But loving these characters is kind of a common thing.. Some characters aren't loved, or treated the way they deserved to be. Here is a listahan of underrated characters I absolutely love!

1- Fleur
In my whole life, I've never met a single Fleur tagahanga expect me. Everyone thinks that she is just an arrogant Veela. Nobody looks at her personality, even not a bit. Firstly, Fleur is daring. She may look like one of those fragile girls, however she participated in the contest in "Goblet Of Fire" and was the only girl in it. She cares about...

1. I feel that Hermione, Draco and Snape are all over-rated.

2. I feel that Ginny is under-rated and gets way too much hate.

3. I feel that a majority of the fans lack any empathy or understanding toward Cho. Give the girl a break. Her boyfriend was murdered. How would you react in such a scenario?

4. I sometimes feel like I'm the only tagahanga in this club who didn't really have a crush on any of the characters or their actors.

5. I ship the majority of couples in this fandom simply because they're canon and I have no reason to dislike them.

6. I sometimes feel like the pairing wars within the fandom...
