It wasn't her fault the character was portrayed as serious. Actors don't really get much creative control over what their characters are like. It's their job to play the character as written and as directed. The people who are therefore responsible for Ginny's different personality in the films are the writers and/or the director. Bonnie just had to do as she was told. I certainly agree that the character in the films is very different to the way she is in the books, but I don't like it when actors get the blame for decisions they don't even get to make. I also agree with the one that says Hedwig's death was unnecessary.
