He was funny, but sometimes I wanted to slap him and say 'get over yourself and see everyone else!' and to be honest it kept me from ever being a real fan of him. Like sulking with Harry in goblet of fire because Harry gets the privilege of almost dying, and being jealous of fame Harry got at the loss of his family. Honestly "oh, Harry you luck orphan you. Your fame and scrutiny is so much better than my loving family" I wanted to tell him to grow up so many times. He was sometimes so focused on everything he didn't have that he felt he deserved that he didn't see all the good things he had right in front of him.

I know what you mean. I felt a bit like that too sometimes. But I just LOVE HIS HAIR TOO MUCH TO BE ANNOYED WITH HIM!!

I agree with Mermaid-Tail and Mrs-Grint, there were times where i wanted to give ron a kick to wake him up for him to realise he wasnt really missing out on anything it was only his own insecurities and misgivings holding him back.

It's a very real situation where our own misgivings, jealouses and insecurities that sometimes hold us back to our full potential til we realise that in the end: we arent missing out anything, if you go for it.

Ok, he's not perfect! And the very few times that he was mad at Harry, he always came back! He always appologized!

Yes he apologised, but saying sorry afterwards doesn't stop the action itself from being self centred. I'm not saying he's a bad person or he never did brave/selfless things, because he did, but he still did more than one thing that shows him seeing the world in a self absorbed way. Such as sulking with your orphan friend because you are jealous of attention they get through their parents death, I feel that's undeniably self centred. It shows him seeing the situation mainly how it affected him, and giving far less thought to how hard life must be for Harry, and that's selfish. Can you imagine doing that? I've never met anyone who was thinking so much of themselves that they'd know someone who has fame through losing their family and actually feel so jealous of that person, and try to make that person feel guilty for attention they get.

I'm not saying he never redeemed himself but making up for things doesn't erase them from his character history, and he had a history of being self absorbed in my opinion so I think it's fair enough to take that into account when evaluating his character.
Not putting down your opinion, it's fine if you don't think he was ever self centred, just explaining why some feel he was.

I agree with Faith-Rulz sometimes your own feelings of insecurity can be crippling, that's probably why I love Ron so much, he is far from perfect and I can relate to him more than anyone else in the books, it's hard when your the youngest child of your sex on your family, when you feel as if your less than your siblings, than your best friend. In the end nobody's perfect.

Besides you show me someone who has NEVER been the slightest bit self centred in their life and I'll show you a liar. There's no such thing as a completely selfless person.
