Hayao Miyazaki Tanong

Kiki's Delivery service: At the end, why doesn't Kiki understand Jiji any more?

At the very end of the movie, (when Kiki's talking to a reporter) Jiji comes along and meows. Kiki can't understand him any more. Why is that? Is it because Jiji wants to have a family of his own?

she doesn't believe in herself, so she starts losing her powers...and Jiji is an animal, so she can not talk to him any longer... :(

Look at it this way. It could be that now that Kiki is so confident, jiji no longer has to speak to her in human, she now understand Cat, and this is what they will talk in from now on. Kiki and Jiji will always understand one another because of their deep friendship and perhaps there is no longer a reason to use words. This is the way I took the ending.

Hayao Miyazaki Sagot

Actually, it was because Kiki had grown up already and Jiji represented her young, reckless character. I was depressed after Jiji stopped talking but I thought it was a nice ending and I was pissed that Jiji got his voice back in the dubbed.

Kiki's powers seem to be strongest when she believes firmly in herself. When she begins to seriously doubt herself and delve into self-pity, she loses, seemingly, all her powers. She can't fly or talk to mga hayop until she starts to get her confidence back.

Because she was losing confidence in herself, and that's what gives her her powers, but in the end it all turned out fine

I have seen two sides of this movie, the older one and newer one. In the older one in the end he jumps up onto her shoulder and goes "HELLLOOO!" in the newer one, I believe they messed up... since he sinabi "MEEEOOOW" in the end even after she got her powers back... really bugged me, I wish I got the older one now.

I always get Miyazaki's pelikula in Japanese, just because that was the language it was originally intended to be in. I never noticed the ending well... xD

Well i remember when i was little i had this movie recorded on tape and at the end jiji did talk to her he sinabi "Kiki can you hear me"?in the new dvd version they cut out jiji saying that and had him just say "meow". Half of almost everybody's lines were cut another example is at the beginning when Kiki leaves to
Go on her journey her other line is " goodbye everybody i will miss you and the girl that turns hear head says " shes ok" they cut that out to. So yeah they cut out half of the lines that they had in the original version
