What would happen if you were to write your own name in the Death Note?

It just woks as itwould with any other person. If you don't specify any details, you'd die in 40 segundos from a puso attack. You can also specify the details of your own death as you would with any other person's death.
In the live action movies, L writes his own name in the Death Note, so he can have 23 madami days of life (he knew Light was about to kill him, so he did this to buy some time). It was an interesting ilipat original to the movies.

it says in the anime on one of the pages in the episodes where it states new rules for the death note "a person may shorten his/ her life sa pamamagitan ng Pagsulat his/ her own name inside the death note"... so I would take that to mean you would die.

Obviously,you wont die...You see when you have the death note you became the new owner of it...You'll die if ever its your time and the Shinigami or the Death God will put your name on it...

It would be considered a form os suicide

you would not die uf you wrote your own name in the death neot because the gods of death can kill humans who have a death note

well, if you have one of those DEATHNOTE copies, there's a listahan of rules there. and it says that the owner can't kill himself because he is posessed sa pamamagitan ng the death god. the owner can only denounce his ownership and lose all his memories of the note THEN the death god kills him.
but if you're just touched the note and you're not the owner like that FBI guy who stalked Light, you'd die.

In short, you would die.

There are three ways for a person to die that owns a Death Note or more.

1) Natural lifespan expired/killed sa pamamagitan ng human not using a Death Note
2) Killed sa pamamagitan ng themselves using the Death Note
3) Killed sa pamamagitan ng the Shinigami that possesses them and is the original owner of the Death Note.

They die of natural lifespan or are killed sa pamamagitan ng a human not using the death note (other than themselves).

How to Use:

V:2 -

A person can shorten his/her own life sa pamamagitan ng using the note. (Further padded sa pamamagitan ng X:1 Suicide is a valid cause of death. Basically, all humans are thought to possess the possibility to commit suicide. It is, therefore, not something mahirap paniwalaan to think of.)

XXXIV:3 Only a god of death that has passed on their Death Note to a human is able to kill the owner of the Death Note.
