Oh boy, it’s another Slenderman related review. And today, I am going to talk about the most popular Slenderman games, Slender: The Eight Pages and Slender: The Arrival as well. Now, first, I will start with Eight Pages. And I gotta tell you, it is pretty scary to see Slenderman…. the first time. And every other time you see him, it’s just old and annoying.
So, lets start with the games story. You start off in the forest, and your goal is to collect eight notes in the forest… and that’s it… that is the entire story. No one knows why he is in the forest, or why he needs to collect these pages, or why Slenderman is so goddamn persistent that he does not get them, but, that’s what you got to do. Okay, not, this game does start out pretty creepy. In a dark forest while you're being chased sa pamamagitan ng something that wants to kill you. Good on paper. AWFUL with it’s execution. You ilipat at the pace of a snail, and when you sprint, it’s useless, because you won’t know where you’re going. You have to resort to using your flashlight CONSTANTLY!
Now, once you collected a page, Slenderman will begin chasing you. Now, at first this is scary, as you are trying to avoid death and try to reach your goal… After this, though, you won’t be running away in fear from an evil creature trying to kill you. You’ll just be turning the fuck around and just make a goddamn detour, because Slenderman keeps you from getting to the susunod page. Now, the ending… I don’t know. I didn’t give enough of a shit to check. I stopped playing after a while. The only reason this game was made was so Let’s Players could get madami views. And all the fucking clones of it. Shrek, Spongebob, Teletubbies. FUCKING TELETUBBIES! But, with that out of the way, we now ilipat on to the susunod one. Slender: The Arrival… It’s just as bad as the first.
Okay, so, it’s not AS bad, but trust me, it ain’t good. But, it’s definitely an improvement from Eight Pages. For starters, you actually have a plot. You play as Lauren, who is going to visit her friend Kate in the woods. First off, I have to say, the graphics are gorgeous. This is easily one of the best looking Slenderman games out there… Shame the rest of the game is in pitch black darkness, so you can’t see anything. And once you get in the house, you see drawings on the wall, and Kate is nowhere to be found. I like this. This builds up lots of suspense and it is actually creepy… Then Slenderman happens, and like that, the game is ruined.
After this, you have to basically do what any sensible person would do… run outside and collect fucking paper… Because if I was being chased sa pamamagitan ng a demonic being, I wouldn’t leave or call the police like some dumbass. No, I’d go out in the fucking dark and pick up walang tiyak na layunin pages with Pagsulat on it. That plan is foolproof. But seriously, though. That’s fucking stupid. Oh, and guess what? Slenderman is as much of a fucking detour as he was in the other game. Hooray for total bullshit. After that, she goes into a mine because… WHY THE FUCK NOT! And now, you have to go and turn on six generators. But, guess what. Now, not only is Slenderman chasing you, but now Kate, who is now driven to insanity, is after you. She’s just as bad, if not worse, than the Slenderman, because you always have to stop what you're doing, and shine a light at her to stop her from coming at you for a bit. If she catches you, all she does is stun you for a bit, which, while annoying, is kinda pointless. But, still real annoying.
After the mine, you get a flashback to Kate, who is going crazy due to the Slenderman. This is yet another great idea that I pag-ibig so much… which is once again ruined sa pamamagitan ng Slenderman. After this, you have to run through the forest, which is on apoy now. Again, this really shows how beautiful the game is. Sadly, you are being chased sa pamamagitan ng the Slenderman, so there is no chance in hell that you’ll enjoy it. So you run to the radio tower, find a key, open a door, find a camera, and you die….. What a great fucking ending that was.
In case I didn’t make it clear, I didn’t enjoy either of these games. They are either too bland, boring, or annoying as hell. I honestly can’t see why so many people are claiming why these are the best horror games ever made. I mean come on, you just run around a dark place, only up in a slightly less dark, but still real fucking dark place just to get a shit ending. I mean, seriously, if you can tell me what makes these games great, I will take back everything I said… and from what I’ve seen, there is nothing great so…. my opinion still stands. But, hey, that’s only my opinion. What’s Your Take.
