Naraku's human form, though as appealing as it might appear is just an illusion. Its the shell of a human that at one time existed but is no madami because Naraku possessed him, devoured his soul and made his putrid self a cozy nest right inside.
Now despite of my use of the word putrid I have sa pamamagitan ng the end of the series developed a faint sence of respect for Naraku, but only because in the end he basically admits that he acknowledges the travesty of his existence. He was born just to help the Shikon jewel become either stronger or to prolong its existence with a scene of security, at least this is my interpretation. Another theory is he was born just to mimic the existence of the Shikon no Tama as a way of history repeating it'self, and Naraku represents demon's will within the jewel. But in the end all he wanted was Kikyo's puso only to face the despair of knowing he could never have that. To me this was sad, maybe even tragic. It's was the iorny of his existence (because of his connection to Onigumo) he wanted love, but it was only in his demon nature to destroy it, indeed how tragic.
I for one am a person that is attracted to dark things, often evil, but not things that are typically even or one dimensional. Like I hate Bampira that hiss and behave like animals, I also hate anime villains that only exist to be evil and nothing more, because that's LAME! I like villains like Sesshomaru, Kagura, Kikyo, Hiei (from Yu Yu Hakusho) and Vegeta (from DBZ), bad boys and ladies that start off bad, but as we learn madami about them that impression changes. Naraku represents this just barely only at the very end, otherwise I would have to classify him in the lame category of villains, but that just isn't the case. He does have appeal as a villain, but it is ONLY because of that slight shred of humanity in him that separates him from the common villain. So this is the only reason why I'd say I like him, as a great character but as a person he's hideous. Just have to say that.
