NFL Playoffs
Let me first start sa pamamagitan ng saying how happy I am that the Patriots finished the regular season 16-0. They have set the standard for every other team to follow in the future. Unselfish team play and a willingness to play a full 60 minutos week in and week out allowed this team to reach perfection. I did predict that this would happen in about week 8 or so, so I am also happy that I was right (it doesn't happen that often). Now they need to finish the job and win the Super Bowl to go 19-0. It won't be easy, and they are the hunted (as if they weren't before).

Hello all. The NFL playoffs start tomorrow January 5, 2008. There are a few suprise teams in, and a few suprise teams that didn't make it. Let's start with the teams that probably shouldn't have gotten in this year. In the AFC I'd have to say the Tennessee Titans. They do not have a very potent offense - scoring less than 20 points per game - but they're defensive line is the class of the NFL. Starting with Albert Haynesworth, the front four put a lot of pressure on QBs and stuff the run. However, the only reason they got in is because they beat the Colt's jayvee team. Manning and co. would have picked them apart much like Tomlinson will susunod week. In the NFC there is only 1 real suprise. The Redskins won tough games against the Vikings and the Cowboys to get a playoff berth for the 2nd time in 3 years. Todd Collins put this team on his back and marched them into the playoffs. Now, they do have a solid receiving core with Santana Moss, Antwan Randall El and Chris Cooley at TE. And Clinton Portis is still a threat out of the backfield. The Redskins may be the hottest team going into the playoffs, but they hit a brick pader because they do have to deal with the 12th Man at Qwest Field where Hasselbeck is 27-3 and the 'Hawks are 7-1 this season. Todd Collins will feel some heat and the Seahawks will most likely make a trip to frigid Lambeau Field susunod week.

Now who was left out? The Bears could not find the same magic as last season and finished a sad 7-9. The only magic this team still had was speedster Devon Hester who broke his own single season touchdown return record (that's a mouthful). So they start the string over again for Super Bowl losers missing the playoffs susunod season (the Seahawks broke that string last year). Minnesota layed a huge egg and missed the playoffs despite leading the league in rushing. John Kitna made us all feel like the Lions would contend, but again they finish with a losing record at 7-9 (let's just hope they don't draft another WR). The Ealges should have been good, but they played in probably the toughest division in all football and still managed to finish 8-8. Now the Saints are sa pamamagitan ng far the biggest dissapointment in the NFC. They were amazing last taon with a 12-4 record and were the odds-on paborito to represent the NFC in Super Bowl 43 (I don't do Roman numerals). They had nearly the same team as last taon but got out of the gate at 0-4. It is nearly impossible to overcome that deficit but they did stay in playoff contention until week 15 which is fairly remarkable.

There aren't big issues in the AFC other than the Cleveland collapse and Cincinnati's inability to figure out how to play defense. Now before I give my playoff picks I want to rank the divisions sa pamamagitan ng strength. In my opinion the Strongest division is the AFC South. They put 3 teams in the playoffs. The Colts finished with 13 wins and it must really stink for the Jaguars to finish 11-5 because that is good enough to win 4 other divisions. And no team in the AFC South finished below .500 which is remarkable. susunod I'm going with the NFC East. They also put 3 teams in the playoffs and the Giants, who finished 2nd at 10-6, had a better record than Tampa baya who won their division. Now for the rest: 3. The AFC East only because of New England. 4. The AFC North. 5. The NFC North. 6. the AFC West. 7. The NFC West (awful after Seattle) 8. The NFC South (one team over .500).

Here's how the playoffs will go (you can take this to the bank). tahanan in BOLD

Wild Card Round:

Seahawks/Redskins (Seahawks win); Buccanners/Giants (Giants win)

Chargers/Titans (Chargers win); Steelers/Jags (Jags win)

Divisional Round:

Cowboys/Giants (Giants win. Owens and Romo aren't 100%) Packers/Seahawks (Seahawks get some revenge from 2004)

Patriots/Jags (Patriots in a tough game) Colts/Chargers (Chargers do it again)

Conference Championships:

Seahawks/Giants (Seahawks thanks to tahanan field advantage) Patriots/Chargers (Patriots win for the segundo time this year)

Super Bowl:

Patriots/Seahawks (Patriots. This is a really tough pick because I think Seattle is one of 2 teams in the NFC that could beat the Patriots - the Packers are the other. I think this would be a high scoring game like 35-28 or something. The Patriots have trouble with spread offenses: Philadelphia and Indy both gave the Pats a game. I do think the Seahawks can get enough pressure from their front four which would allow for some 5 DB sets to throw off Brady. In the end though, I think the Patriots going for 19-0 will be too much to handle. 38-28 is my final score prediction here.)
