series 3 she got close with haley, cos um .. well, she lived with her; but never stopped being best friends with peyton.

series 4 they wernt even friends till the end. but when they did make back friends they were best friends again.

and since your questions says "going back to being best friends" ... then it fails. cos they were and they did.

They were besties in season 3 and season 4 sorta enemies but in the end they overcame all the bad and in season 5&6 they were better than ever. I do love Baley too, matter fact these two are are my top favorites!!!
