Paula made it tahanan with her new dog, Diesel. She sinabi to him, "You'll be living here now, okay?" He sniffed around for a while, and then he settled down for a nap. He was ready for breakfast. She took him downstairs and fed him. Jane came to visit Paula and brought Shiloh with her. Jane and Paula watched as Shiloh and Diesel played together. Paula said, "I'm glad I have a new dog." Jane said, "I'm glad about that, too. This is the happiest I've seen you in a while." Paula said, "Yeah. My grandmother's passing was really painful. I think I just needed a new friend." Jane said, "I know you talked about getting a new dog." Paula said, "Yeah. My parents and I talked about getting a Shetland Sheepdog or a Border Collie, not a German Shepherd. It seems that Diesel chose me." Jane said, "Yeah, he did. I think he chose a good person." Paula smiled and said, "Aw! You're just saying that. Really?" Jane said, "Yeah. I think Diesel sensed that you would pag-ibig him and care for him. I know that, because I know what it's like to need a friend. I remember the compassion you showed me when I first moved here." This made Paula cry happy tears. She hugged Jane and then petted Diesel and said, "My two best friends!"
