What can we do now in the future to clean up and prevent oil spills in the ocean?

As many of us know, there was a large oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico and BP is to blame. I know that one of the courses of action to try to remove the oil was using a tobe as a vacuum to suck up some oil, but that didnt help much. And now, there burning the oils to get rid of the mess. I honestly find this sick, and idiotic. They couldn't have thought of any other way to remove the oil? mga hayop are being burnt and killed because of BP's mistake. So now that you have information leading up to the question, I want to know what you think we can do to prevent this in the Future and waht we can do now? Thank you.
