What is the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" thing in the military?

I heard about this saying, and that it's homophobic. Could someone please explain this to me?

It means that they do not accept gays in the millitary. & if u are openly gay, they will reject u...so if u are gay & want to be in the millitary, they won't ask if u are or not, but u cannot say if u are gay or else u will be kicked out...

make any sense???

Nope. None at all; who cares if the person who is fighting and risking your life for your country happens to pag-ibig men?

Yep, I have. But usually, wikipedia gives you an endless definition or information, and you'd need to read the whole thing in order to understand. And I currently have no patience for pagbaba long descriptions xD

Basically, they don't ask soldiers if they're gay, so they don't have to lie. They don't tell them that they're gay, and they can be part of the military. If they do tell them, then they can't.

It's ridiculous, it needs to be lifted. If a gay person wants to serve their country, I don't think they should have to hide who they really are.
