No. I think language is like a tool that we can adapt and develop to suit our needs. The English spoken nowadays is different from the English spoken 100 years ago, just as we are different from the people of that time.

However, I think some people really are in great danger of letting their standards slip, which is a shame, but hardly representative of the entire English speaking population.
