I guess my paborito book, Looking for Alaska.
It was going to be made into a movie, but it got shelved because of the lack of interest. However, I was always fond of the character named Chip Martin because he had the same first name as me xD

God! Please let Steven Pressfield's "GATES OF FIRE" be a movie. Well, it's not like it's ever gonna happen and we already have a Spartan movie but this book makes 300 totally amiss. (And why the heck the Spartans, known for their majestic armor and methodical way of fighting, the Spartan's there in 300 would go into battle with only undergament covering their body and rather gave much concern to cape than having them worn tunics? Persians there in GoF aren't portrayed as soulless imperialists and characters there have depth, they are philosophical and way interesting so I think that take on Battle of Thermopylae would have been fresh on the eyes.)... (So much for that...) ... It will prove difficult though to find someone to cast as Polynikes and Alexandros (and some other characters there) 'cause they're supposed to be muscled pretty boys of heavenly beauty. Where can you get actors like that?

Bingo! XDD Any director should take after your resourcefulness. An Egyptian soldier there did imply that he heard Spartans might be gay men and he was wondering why they grow their hair long. (You got to read the book so you’ll see even that tanong has a philosophical answer, just as what you’d expect from Greeks.) Dienekes sinabi they should take a break from discussing philosophy or their fellowmen might think they really are effeminate. Alexandros and Ariston are described as having beauteous feminine-like features for someone Spartan (but then again, Spartans are supposed to be the best-looking Greeks), but Polynikes surpassed them all. And he sardonically used the term “boyfriend” referring to a fellow Spartiate’s close male companion. And, if I remember it right, I think I’ve read from a historical pinagmulan that the culture of Ancient Greeks or Spartans (either of these nomenclature. I forgot which one exactly) was not against homosexual relationship. I don’t know what you can make out of that. But the story is nothing gay, really, I assure you. It was all gritty hardcore military tale, gore fest, pathos, history, philosophy with sprinkle of comedy wrapped in lofty, lyrical narrative. First 2 pages of the main story and it was already heavy on the puso (lol), I wasn’t sure I could go on to susunod page till finale knowing that the Spartiates were going to die. (But if you read it you’ll know it wasn’t a pitiful end afterall.)…. When it come to Asian guys, I don’t know how you can fit that in. I mean, I’m not sure if I’m prepared to see Asian guys playing as brawny, hardened Greek Caucasian warriors. It’s funny that you’d lump Asian guys with gay men. But I guess I have no problem with that since I have nothing against gay men and I have a thing for Asian guys. (lol, well, I’m Asian myself.) If you alisin the word “muscled” there, you’d parallel them both to “pretty boys of heavenly beauty.”
