What do you think it means?

I complimented the shoes of a guy I like. He sinabi thank you but after that araw he never wore them again. It's been about a buwan and a half and now I don't think it's coincidental. He knows I like him so idk what message he is trying to send. But One time he was staring at me and when I caught him, he just kept looking with this blank expression untl I looked away. And anytime he catches me staring, he will keep looking too until I look away. We bearly talk and when we do it's when he asks to borrow stuff from me. And one time when I let him borrow something, he sinabi " you're the best" which you wouldn't say to someone you know who likes you unless you we're trying to turn them on, right? So I'm just getting a bunch of mixed signals. What do you think this means?

Yeah, it's best to be mga kaibigan first, or so I've heard. So even if they don't end up liking you, you can still be friends, which isn't a bad thing.
