What do you think about relying on God?

Sorry to bring religion up,but someone also told me that you should rely on God and stuff to be your strength. I say rely on yourself and be your own strength. I think relying on God for strength is like relying on bf, gf, bff, or mga kaibigan to make you happy. You have to make yourself happy. Making your own strength is like making your own happiness.

I see your point, but I would have to disagree with you.
See, I rely on God like I rely on water. I need water to sustain my life. In the same way, I need to rely on God to give me strength to get through life.

I feel the same way. Albeit I am an atheist, I would say that completely relying on a god rather than on oneself or the close mga kaibigan and family around you is a display of lack of self confidence or the will to do anything.

Okay, let me tell you something.

Personally I don't have any religion, but others believe in god and that he's their savior and can protect them. Not everyone has as much strength as others, they need someone to believe in, they need the faith that comes with god. They need to know that they will be watched over, and that they will go to an afterlife.

There is ABSOLUTLY nothing wrong with relying on god or any other religious thing. Because, some people get stressed or they get suicidal, and the only thing that helps them is knowing that god is there, and relys on god to help them.

I mean, personally, I don't rely on god obviously because I don't believe in god. And let me tell you why; but before I do, I swear if I get ONE comment shit talking me about my religion I will literally just cuss you out I don't even care anymore. Or ONE comment saying how I should be Christian, I respected your religion now respect mine.

Some of the people on this site already know how my parents died, one died in a apoy and the other from cancer because he drank too much. I don't rely on god, because I used to be catholic, but then I just got angry at him. I thought that since I was such a fuck up he didn't care about my family, and that he didn't help them.

Then my sister and little brother died and I just changed religions, and now I rely on myself, I mean it's been working quiet fine so far. I don't see my siblings, I didn't even know my little brother actually died till a buwan later, but my point is, some people don't believe in relying on another being. Some people don't believe in gods and religious practices and others do.

I agree. If it helps people, then I see no reason for believing in God as a bad thing.

most people grow out of imaginary friends... i feel like god is something created in the earliest stages of society to explain the unexplainable but unlike concepts of magic we've held on to it for far too long

To put it the way the Bible does, we are like lambs, and he is the good shepherd who would die for us. He protects us. If a tupa doesn't follow the shepherd and does his own thing, he won't last for long. That's exactly like what we are. We all live in the world for a lifetime, which isn't long compared to the eternal afterlife. Those who trust and follow God will live forevermore. Those who choose to ignore him will enjoy life for a while, but die an eternal death afterwards, for the rest of all time. So, I think no-one should be forced to rely on God, but all should think on it.

I'm not a Christian. I somewhat rely on Eru, my god, but not when I don't need his help. When I can't do something Eru helps me.
I think Eru helps me find my own strength, but when I can't find it I think he is my strength.

I totally understand your point! I am a christian and i have actually had encounters with God. However, some days i just get so tired and annoyed at God. When you rely on yourself, you eventually relize that you can't handle the situation. Lots of people are constanly trying and trying to change themselves but they just can't. They wake up in the morning and they're like 'today is going to be a great day. I am not going to do anything wrong today!' That is relying on your own strength and it doesn't work. If you rely on God and ask him from your puso to give you strength he will endure you for the day!

I don't know whether that has helped at all but i hope it did! Also, whatever religion you are and wherever you are at this very second, God knows and he has your life all planned out and he is waiting for you.

It seems like everyone has had God "talk" to them. I'm not one of those people. Never did He when I was little and never now. It's true though, relying on yourself is hard and things may go wrong, but I've realized that's just part of life. There is no way to avoid it. You can only change the way you let it effect you.

Sometimes I did pray, I can admit. But every time something good seemed to happen, I just called it luck. I believe in karma and luck, but just a little bit. I'm not a full out believer. I'm not a full out believer in anything.
