The moon was going down as the last couple of drunken bar-hops stumbled out of The Rock Inn. It was named The Rock Inn because of it's tattered decor of posters of Elvis and the few Les Paul guitars hanging. The only real performance you got around there was the old 60s music that hummed out of the juke box.
My head had been pounding all night. Fed up, I grabbed the bottle of aspirin that sat on the dusty wooden shelves under the bar. Pouring myself a shot of scotch and took them. "They say you shouldn't mix those together," I heard Mallory call over my shoulder. I glanced back at her.
"They also say that hookers should be illegality, but you sure do seem to think it's community service."
She slapped my arm and carried a tray of shot glasses and serbesa cups into the back. I heard the water start, she was washing dishes. Sighing, I grabbed a walis and started sweeping up the dust and mani shells.
. . .
We were winding up the cleaning when I saw gleams of light seep in past the blinds. Matthias and Zeus, our rottweilers, started barking and snarling. Standing behind the counter, I flipped open the gun kaluban ng baril and picked up the silver pistol.
The door busted in, Mallory emerged from the back and looked at them. Two ruggish guys walked in. One around 6'0, blond with hazel eyes. Other 6'4, tan, brown hair, and hazel eyes. "Dean..." Mallory breathed and ran and hugged him. Dean embraced her back and looked down at her, "Hey Mall."
I locked eyes with the taller one for a moment, he seemed to be just as confused as me. The pistol was still tightly wound in my hand.
"Mall.. I gotta talk to you..." Dean said, looking away from her to the taller one.
"Of course..." she walked susunod to me and grabbed a couple of beers and a book, an old raggedy leather thing. Barely holding itself together. She walked to a booth with him and sat down. whispering, their talk covered sa pamamagitan ng the soft hum of the juke box.
I walked to the back and threw away two arm fulls of serbesa bottles. Turning to leave, black smoke shoved itself down my throat, burning my insides. It felt, for a moment, that I was suffocating and caught on fire. Looking myself in the mirror voluntarily I saw a Q-like shape burned into my left arm. I couldn't control anything... all I could do is watch.
Walking out into the open, the tall one sat at the bar, looking in his glass of vodka. 'I' sat susunod susunod him, "Hey."
"Hello," he said, looking up to me.
"What's your name?"
"Sam... yours?"
"Sage."
Chapter One
I had no idea what was happening. Trying to ilipat anything myself was impossible. I tried moving my hand towards the drink, but my hand twirled a golden lock between two fingers. Quiet frankly... it hurt. I tried calling out to him to have him help me, but not a peep came from my mouth. Well, it did, but it wasn't me talking. My voice, but not my words. I was trapped in my own mind...
"So Sam, what brings you to town?" 'I' asked.
"Um... roadtrip with my brother over there."
"I see... is it fun?"
He looked up at me with soft eyes, "What do you mean?"
"You know... hitting the road... never having to stick to one place. Destined to marry your best friend because you don't have really any other options."
"Wow," he took a gulp of beer, "depressing much?"
I laughed, "No, actually bubbly."
"It really shows." he chuckled, looking at me. Even though I had no control of anything, I could see he had beautiful eyes.
"Well," I cackled, "is it fun?"
"It depends on how you look at it. But I suppose... over all... yeah."
"How do you survive?"
He looked at me oddly.
"As in money..." I smiled, "What? Credit Card scams, hussle pool, poker?"
"Well, you're pretty much right on the spot."
"Fun."
"Understatment," he sinabi sarcasticly.
"So... you do like it?"
"It's my job..."
"But," I rested a hand on his, "do you like it."
He looked down and then back up to me, "I'm not sure..."
I stood, "Comon."
"What?"
I grabbed his hand, smiling, "Just comon on." We walked to the door. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Dean pulled away from his make out session with Mallory and winked at Sam. I felt like rolling my eyes, but instead, I giggled. Am I going mad...?
We walked outside, and then I blacked out.
. . .
Wakey Wakey Sage...
What?
My vision doubled and then came slowly into focus. Wha...? I couldn't even finish my thought before I realized what i was looking at. Sam. I still didn't have control over my own body or mouth.. great.
"You sure this is okay Ruby?" he said. Who the fuck is Ruby?
"Positive." I... she... whoever... leaned in and kissed him. He kissed back. Smiling, I pulled away sa pamamagitan ng not even an inch and took out a blade, sliced my arm. I screamed and screamed, but nothing verbalized.
Sam drank from my arm, which I might add, didn't feel all that well either (sarcasm). I blacked out.
